The Department of History at Texas Christian University invites applications for a tenure-track assistant or associate professor of the 20th century United States who specializes in Mexican American, Latinx, and/or Borderlands history, to begin August 2023. Candidates must possess a completed Ph.D. at the time of application.
The successful candidate will be a scholar whose work engages perspectives, sources, or languages from multiple cultural backgrounds. They will demonstrate an ability to teach survey courses in Multicultural American, Mexican American, or Latinx history, in addition to upper-level courses and graduate seminars drawn from their area of expertise. Other duties will include mentoring graduate and undergraduate students, carrying out a scholarly research agenda, and contributing service at the department and university levels. The position carries a 3/2 teaching load, a competitive salary, and internal research support.

The TCU Department of History has 19 full-time faculty members who lead a thriving undergraduate program and a PhD program that specializes in American and Latin American history.
Named for TCU’s founders, Addison and Randolph Clark, the AddRan College of Liberal Arts is home to the core academic disciplines of the humanities and social sciences. The College includes approximately 155 full-time faculty members, 13 departments (Comparative Race & Ethnic Studies, Criminology and Criminal Justice, Economics, English, Geography, History, Modern Language Studies, Philosophy, Political Science, Religion, Sociology & Anthropology, Spanish and Hispanic Studies, and Women & Gender Studies), and two units of Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (Army and Air Force). AddRan College departments confer 17 Bachelor of Arts and 7 Bachelor of Science degrees, a Bachelor of General Studies, an online master’s degree in Criminology and Criminal Justice, a Master of Liberal Arts degree, and master’s and Ph.D. degrees in History, English, and Rhetoric and Composition.
