Position Details:

The Department of Economics at Texas Christian University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor position beginning August 2024. The successful candidate will be pursuing a research agenda and teaching upper-division courses that specialize in big data analysis (AI techniques, machine learning, or other statistical inference methods) and complement existing course offerings. The research expectation is commensurate with a 3/2 teaching load. All Ph.D. requirements should be completed by August 2024. Departmental representatives will conduct virtual interviews. Finalists will be invited to campus for an in-person visit.

The Department of Economics at Texas Christian University emphasizes the teacher-scholar model and the ideals of a liberal arts education. Students are encouraged to explore alternative points of view and to develop the tools necessary for independent analysis of economic arguments. We are part of the AddRan College of Liberal Arts at TCU, we offer three majors (BA, BS, and BS in International Economics), and we currently have roughly 350 majors.

School/College Description:

Named for TCU’s founders, Addison and Randolph Clark, the AddRan College of Liberal Arts is home to the core academic disciplines of the humanities and social sciences. The College includes approximately 155 full-time faculty members, 13 departments (Comparative Race & Ethnic Studies, Criminology & Criminal Justice, Economics, English, Geography, History, Modern Language Studies, Philosophy, Political Science, Religion, Sociology & Anthropology, Spanish and Hispanic Studies, and Women & Gender Studies), and two units of Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (Army and Air Force). AddRan College departments confer 17 Bachelor of Arts and 7 Bachelor of Science degrees, a Bachelor of General Studies, an online master’s degree in Criminology and Criminal Justice, a Master of Liberal Arts degree, and master’s and Ph.D. degrees in History, English, and Rhetoric and Composition.
