Job Summary:

The Associate Director Sponsored Programs is responsible for supporting the TCU research enterprise by providing assistance to faculty, staff and graduate students by identifying funding opportunities and supporting proposal and budget development and review;; ensuring TCU is compliant with all sponsor and funding opportunity requirements; and negotiating and processing acceptance, on behalf of TCU, all grant and contract awards.

Duties & Essential Job Functions:

1. Identifies and distributes funding opportunities to faculty, staff and graduate students
2. Assists with proposal and budget development including large, interdisciplinary or multi-institutional applications and serves as primary resource for pre-award proposal questions
3. Reviews and interprets sponsor RFPs and guidelines, provides policy guidance, ensures proposals submitted on behalf of TCU are compliant with sponsor and institutional requirements including ensuring institutional approvals for external proposals are complete and documented
4. Ensures and inputs timely and accurate data in various web-based tools and databases
5. Assists with reporting of TCU research achievements and portfolio related to proposal and award activity
6. Review and interpret all award terms and conditions including sponsor compliance regulations to ensure TCU research compliance throughout the award acceptance phase and project period of the award.
7. Review all award documents, including negotiation as needed, for consistency with the proposal, compliance with TCU policies and ensure proper TCU acceptance of award and set-up of project.
8. Complete all required non-financial post award tasks such as review and approval of rebudgeting, review and approval of payroll on sponsored projects, liaison between TCU and sponsor for necessary post award approvals, ensuring timely submission of reporting requirements and complete close out of projects.
9. Prepare and present training information workshops for TCU faculty and professional organizations
10. Collaborate and assist with the development and implementation of research policies and procedures
11. Manage, lead and complete special projects as assigned
12. Performs other related duties as assigned

Required Education & Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree
• 4 years’ research and/or research administration experience in a university setting.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Knowledge of databases and funding opportunities websites for conducting searches.
• Knowledge of basic accounting processes.
• Strong and accurate arithmetic, computer and typing skills
• Ability to collect and analyze data, identify trends and provide input based on analysis to institute operational change
• Advanced knowledge of Office of Management and Budget Circulars (UG)
• Knowledge of Federal and State agency policies including HIH, NSF, DOEd, DOE, DOD, THECB, and NASA.
• Skilled in all components of Microsoft Office and Windows
• Skills in grant proposals, grant writing, budget preparation, and research practices.
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team with faculty, government, and industry representatives.
• Ability to manage multiple, simultaneous deadlines
• Ability to reflect excellent oral and written communication skills

Physical Requirements (With or Without Accommodations):

• Visual acuity to read information from computer screens, forms and other printed materials and information.
• Able to speak (enunciate) clearly in conversation and general communication.
• Hearing ability for verbal communication/conversation/responses via telephone, telephone systems, and face-to-face interactions.
• Manual dexterity for typing, writing, standing and reaching, flexibility, body movement for bending, crouching, walking, kneeling and prolonged sitting.
• Lifting and moving objects and equipment up to 10 lbs.

Work Environment:

• Work is indoors and sedentary and is subject to schedule changes and/or variable work hours.
• There are no harmful environmental conditions present for this job.
• The noise level in this work environment is usually moderate.
• This role is an on campus, in-person position.
