Job Summary:

The Athletics IT Coordinator is responsible for the stability of all TCU Athletics technology platforms used in daily operational and event scenarios. This individual will report to the Assistant Director of Athletics Technology and regularly work with both campus IT and external contracted technical support to maintain key Athletics hardware/software systems. Their work will be split between managing daily requests from Athletics Staff and supporting athletics, campus, and sporting events hosted across multiple facilities.

Duties & Essential Job Functions:

1. Works closely with Athletics’ internal staff, Athletics’ contractors, and TCU’s IT Department to coordinate the maintenance and support of existing systems. Manages, maintains, and oversees the day-to-day operations of the various Athletics systems including video boards, digital signage, sports analytics hardware, video production, network, camera, desktop computer, battery backup, fiber optic, media server, and other AV systems.
2. Works with the Assistant Director of Athletics Technology to support core Athletics technology systems during sporting events, being present before, and during events as on-site support.
3. Responding as necessary to emergency needs for support of Athletics technology equipment, working with both internal and external tech resources to remedy issues.
4. Oversees the effective implementation of new systems and/or features in existing systems. Often serves as a project manager over a new implementation from research/vetting all the way to product installation/documentation.
5. Responsible for creating and maintaining documentation on Athletics systems and processes.
6. Provides appropriate security, network, and system administration guidance in accordance with IT standards and assists in enforcing those standards when risks are identified.
7. Supports Athletics by residing in the most appropriate office space as determined by the department, attending staff meetings, proactively developing relationships with staff to understand their business needs and goals, identifying technology to help achieve goals, and serving as champion and advocate for technology needs.
8. Maintains technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and technical training; reviewing professional publications in relation to the core technology that they support.
9. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Education & Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in work experience.
• 3 years in the various functions of information technology (networking, systems, security, etc.) in a medium to enterprise-level environment, managing and coordinating IT projects.

Preferred Education & Experience:

• Experience with running/maintaining video boards
• Experience with Athletics technology platforms
• Experience in process/systems analysis
• Experience working at sporting events
• Experience with the various functions of information technology (networking, systems, security, etc.) in a large enterprise environment
• Experience working with entertainment AV

Required Licensure/Certification/Specialized Training:

• Valid Driver’s License.
• Must be insurable under the university motor vehicle requirements.
• Relevant technology certification, web management certification, or relevant advanced degree.

Preferred Licensure, Certification, and/or Specialized Training:

• None

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Knowledge of various IT functions (networking, server, and software systems, security, etc.)
• Knowledge of organization skills and problems solving skills.
• Knowledge of interpersonal skills, customer service, and conflict management skills, excelling in the ability to facilitate communication among departments, while ensuring user requests are fulfilled promptly.
• Skill in writing/coding queries, report writing, and presenting findings.
• Skill in some or all the components of Microsoft Office.
• Ability to operate basic office equipment.
• Ability to draft grammatically correct correspondence.
• Ability to balance multiple projects simultaneously.
• Ability to evaluate and make recommendations to improve operations.
• Ability to prioritize, organize and work independently, or as part of a project team, to complete multiple tasks.
• Ability to identify potential process and workflow improvements.
• Ability to derive insight from large amounts of data from diverse sources.
• Ability to quickly learn new applications and equipment.
• Ability to train staff on best practices of data analysis in admissions systems (i.e., training on query and report building).
• Ability to work days, nights, and weekends based upon Athletics Sports and special event requests
• Ability to interpret business needs, identify technology solutions, and understand technical requirements.
• Ability to manage the implementation of IT solutions.

Physical Requirements (With or Without Accommodations):

• Visual acuity to read information from computer screens, forms, and other printed materials and information.
• Able to speak (enunciate) clearly in conversation and general communication.
• Hearing ability for verbal communication/conversation/responses via telephone, telephone systems, and face-to-face interactions.
• Manual dexterity for typing, writing, standing and reaching, flexibility, body movement for bending, crouching, walking, kneeling, and prolonged sitting.
• Lifting and moving objects and equipment up to 50 lbs.

Work Environment:

• Work is indoors and outdoors, and is subject to schedule changes and/or variable work hours that extend to weekend sporting/private events.
• This role is an on-campus, in-person position.
• There are no harmful environmental conditions present for this job.
• The noise level in this work environment is usually moderate except those encountered during sporting events.
