With a strong commitment to scholarly work and achievement, Texas Christian University (TCU) is pleased to offer a postdoctoral fellowship committed to our strong teacher-scholar model. This program offers a postdoctoral fellowship of up to two years to a stellar scholar who is committed to research and teaching. The program is designed to promote diversity in the academy. This term, the fellowship is seeking applications from individuals with research and pedagogical experience in the following areas: bilingual education and special education.
The Bilingual Special Education Postdoctoral Fellow will work collaboratively across the Special Education and Bilingual Education programs to help advance the innovative, timely, and internationally recognized work in Bilingual Special Education in the TCU College of Education (COE). The TCU COE currently offers preparation and opportunities for certification in both Bilingual Education and Special Education—both areas directly impacted by national teacher shortages, and is directly involved with creating the new Bilingual Special Education certification in the state of Texas. Additionally, the Fellow will have many opportunities to contribute to ongoing research projects within the COE, that address and investigate the intersection of disability and bilingualism.

Qualifications: The selection committee will consider all factors that enhance a candidate’s ability to contribute to diversity in the academy, including varied socioeconomic and cultural experiences, diversity-related research, teaching goals emphasizing diversity, and first-generation college graduates. Candidates meeting these criteria should highlight these experiences in the diversity statement.
● Must have PhD or EdD in bilingual education, special education or related field from an accredited institution within the past five years and no later than July 1, 2023.
●Candidates from historically underrepresented groups in the U.S. higher education system are strongly encouraged to apply.
●Have experience in and a demonstrated commitment to research and teaching.
●Fellowship applicants must be eligible and authorized to work in the US without an employer- sponsored visa.
The salary is competitive with similar postdoctoral fellowships, and the position includes a generous benefits package including access to medical, vision, dental, and life insurance. This award also includes a fund for research‐related and program travel expenses. Each award is for 12 months and may be renewable for only one additional year upon demonstration of academic productivity. The position will begin Fall 2023.
The TCU Chancellor’s Postdoctoral Fellow is expected: 1) to teach a minimum of one class during each semester of the fellowship. Additional duties, which might include other types of instructional support, will be assigned in a manner befitting the fellow’s area(s) of expertise; 2) to focus on research; 3) to meet regularly with faculty mentors; 4) to participate in professional development opportunities; and 5) to connect and collaborate across the college and institution when deemed appropriate.

• Manual dexterity for typing, writing, standing and reaching, flexibility, body movement for bending, crouching, walking, kneeling and prolonged sitting.

• Work is indoors and sedentary and is subject to schedule changes and/or variable work hours.
• This role is an on-campus, in-person position.
