The Community Outreach Coordinator will play a key role in developing and supporting a program to distribute free iron supplements to at-risk populations in clinical and community-based organizational settings across the Dallas–Fort Worth (DFW) area. The Community Outreach Coordinator will serve as the frontline connector between TCU, clinics, hospitals, health providers, and community organizations, helping reduce barriers to care, support provider education and care provision, strengthen community-clinic relationships, and improve health outcomes. This role combines program management, community outreach and engagement, event coordination, relationship building, communication management, data collection and reporting, program evaluation and continuous improvement, and collaboration with the goal of addressing and advancing improvements in maternal and population-level health in the DFW area of North Texas. This position is grant funded and contingent upon ongoing funding.
1. Collaborates in the development and independent execution of comprehensive community outreach and engagement strategies and initiatives, ensuring programs are accessible and effectively communicated to target audiences.
2. Cultivates and sustains strategic partnerships with community organizations, institutions, and key stakeholders to strengthen collaboration, expand reach, and support the programs goals.
3. Designs and delivers high-impact outreach events, educational programs, workshops, and community activities to foster engagement and promote program initiatives and goals.
4. Oversees multi-channel communications and public engagement efforts, including newsletters, emails, phone calls, and in-person meetings. Collaborates with internal teams to develop clear, consistent messaging for social media and press releases and ensure all communications effectively convey the program’s message and engage the target audience.
5. Monitors and evaluates outreach outcomes through data analysis of various distribution activities (such as inventory counts) and outreach efforts.
6. Based on outcomes, refine strategies, enhance engagement effectiveness, and drive continuous program improvement.
7. Performs other related duties as assigned.
• Bachelors’ degree in public health, public administration, health education, social work/services, strategic communications, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 2 years’ experience in community outreach and engagement, public health programming, public relations, community service, strategic communication, or related field.
• Masters’ degree in public health, public administration, health education, social work/services, strategic communications, or related field.
• 5 years’ experience in community outreach and engagement, public health programming, public relations, community service, strategic communication, or related field.
• Bi-lingual (Spanish preferred).
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to travel to community sites within Dallas and Tarrant counties.
• In compliance with § 521.457 of the Texas Transportation Code, TCU will annually review the most recent three-year MVR history to ensure compliance with Motor Vehicle Procedures.
• Program completion as Certified Community Health Worker.
• Ability to think and work creatively, strategically, and collaboratively within budgetary restrictions for program objectives and implementation.
• Excellent project planning, organizational, interpersonal, problem-solving, time management, and communication skills.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to troubleshoot problems, collaboratively develop, and independently implement solutions.
• Skill in Microsoft Office suite and other office-based software applications.
• Ability to build and maintain positive relationships.
• Ability to understand programmatic needs and address target audience concerns with empathy and strategic thinking.
• Ability to manage competing program needs and priorities simultaneously and with occasionally tight timelines.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, with a wide variety of stakeholders internal and external to TCU.
• Ability to create engaging information presentations and/or share program information in ways that are meaningful and impactful to a target audience.
• Ability to collect and analyze data, identify trends and provide input based on analysis to institute operational change

• Occasional evenings and weekends may be required for outreach events.
• This is a grant-funded position contingent upon ongoing funding.

• The noise level in this work environment is usually moderate.
• This is an in-person, community-facing position.
