Job Summary:

The Coordinator Campus Recreation – Competitive Sports is responsible for assisting in the direction a multi-faceted Intramural & Sport Club programs on a daily basis.

Duties & Essential Job Functions:

1. Assists in the development and maintenance of the Intramural Sports program by adhering to budget; creating annual calendar, training all officials and supervisors, creating rules and schedules for all events.
2. Reviews and responds to participant ejections and protests; assures that a variety of programs are offered for all interested students and staff; creates the ability for students to compete outside TCU through extramural sports;
3. Maintains safety of intramural equipment; coordinates weekly meetings with intramural supervisors and officials by scheduling and holding meetings to discuss and resolve current issues.
4. Assist in the management of all Sport Clubs by maintaining all Sport Club budgets; meets with all club leaders on a regular basis; supervises a Sport Club manager position; assists Sport Clubs with national governing body policies and regional league requirement.
5. Supervises graduate assistant with mentoring in scheduling, discipline, assessment and budgets. Provides special opportunities for professional development for the staff including meetings, retreats, and other activities.
6. Supervises student workers by training student assistants in scheduling, discipline, assessment and budgets; evaluates all student employees; prepares payroll. Provides special opportunities for staff development for the student staff through meetings, retreats, and other activities.
7. Represents Campus Recreation by serving on departmental and division committees for student development.
8. Serves as a campus resource for other programs to enhance the use and visibility of the Rec Center as a major campus resource.
9. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Education & Experience:

• Bachelors’ degree in Recreation, Kinesiology, Sport Management or a closely related field or equivalent in experience.
• 1 plus years’ experience in recreational programming at the university level.
• Completion of a graduate assistantship may be included as applicable experience.

Preferred Education & Experience:

• Masters’ degree in Recreation, Kinesiology, Sport Management or a closely related field or equivalent in experience.
• 2 plus years’ experience in recreational programming at the university level.

Required Licensure/Certification/Specialized Training:

• Valid Texas Driver’s License.
• Must be insurable under the university motor vehicle requirements.

Preferred Licensure, Certification, and/or Specialized Training:

• None

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Knowledge of communications, presentations and interpersonal relationship techniques.
• Knowledge of scheduling techniques.
• Knowledge of customer service techniques.
• Skill in staff and student staff scheduling.
• Skill in some or all components of Microsoft Office.
• Skill in developing and scheduling all intramural and sport clubs.
• Ability to recruit, train, supervise, and assess student officials.
• Ability to manage a budget.
• Ability to establish priorities.
• Ability to work as part of a team.

Physical Requirements (With or Without Accommodations):

• Visual acuity to read information from computer screens, forms and other printed materials and information.
• Able to speak (enunciate) clearly in conversation and general communication.
• Hearing ability for verbal communication/conversation/responses via telephone, telephone systems, and face-to-face interactions.
• Manual dexterity for typing, writing, standing and reaching, flexibility, body movement for bending, crouching, walking, kneeling and prolonged sitting.
• Lifting and moving objects and equipment up to 10 lbs.

Work Environment:

• Work is indoors and sedentary and is subject to schedule changes and/or variable work hours.
• This role is an on-campus, in-person position.
• There are no harmful environmental conditions present for this job.
• The noise level in this work environment is usually moderate.
