Position Details:

This full-time faculty position is on-campus and in-person.

Position Description

• Teach undergraduate courses including studio and seminar-format. Teaching assignments will be based on the applicant’s experience and expertise.
• Teach using design-oriented software, such as Revit and AutoCAD
• Advising/mentoring undergraduate majors
• Service to the Department, College and University, normally involving committee work
• Continued Professional Development.

Qualifications

Required:
• Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, Architecture, Lighting Design, or a closely-related professional field.
• Applicant must have the ability to teach interior design studios and seminar classes within the program curricula.
• 18 completed graduate-level credit hours toward an Interior Design, Architecture, Lighting Design, or closely-related graduate degree, or five years of related professional practice.
• Evidence of strength in design practice and teaching.
• A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Strongly Preferred:
• Graduate degree in Interior Design, Lighting Design, Architecture, or a closely related professional field, or international equivalent.
• Qualified to teach courses in Lighting Design including studio and seminar-format.
• Proficiency in using and teaching AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite, AGi32, Elumtools, and similar software.
• Unsupervised, college-level teaching experience.
• In addition to academic credentials, five years professional practice in Interior Design, Lighting Design, Architecture, or a closely-related professional field.

Rank and Salary

Instructor, non tenure-track. This is a permanent position with a renewable contract. The contract period is initially one year, can be extended to three years following the first year of service. Salary and benefits are highly competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience. Benefits for domestic partners are available.

Department of Design

The widely-recognized and respected Department of Design offers the BFA in Interior Design, The BFA in Graphic Design, the BS in Design Studies, and a minor in Architectural Lighting Design. There are approximately 200 undergraduate majors in the department. Upon filling this position, the program will have 12, permanent faculty positions with generous adjunct support from the vibrant Fort Worth/Dallas design and advertising community. The Interior Design Program is accredited by the Council for Interior Design Accreditation (CIDA). The Department of Design is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Schools of Art and Design (NASAD). In alignment with CIDA and industry standards our program values the National Council for Interior Design Qualification (NCIDQ) certification for our Interior Design faculty. The NCIDQ certification is the industry's recognized indicator of proficiency in interior design principles and a designer's commitment to the profession.

School/College Description:

The TCU College of Fine Arts is home to six academic units: the School of Art, the School for Classical & Contemporary Dance, the School of Music, the Department of Design, the Department of Fashion Merchandising, and the Department of Theatre. The college is comprised of approximately 1000 students and offers 33 undergraduate degree programs and 24 advanced degree programs to prepare the next generation of creative leaders in the arts. Students in the College of Fine Arts study with renowned professors and guest artists, annually present more than 350 public performances and display art, design, and research in juried exhibitions and competitions. The college also offers a minor and certificate in Arts Leadership & Entrepreneurship and oversees two on-campus art galleries.
