Job Summary:

The Registered Dietitian is responsible for providing direct and indirect nutritional health related services to TCU students referred by Counseling and Mental Health Center and the Heath Center for any nutritional or dietary concern impacting the student’s mental and physical well-being. The Registered Dietitian will help coordinate student nutrition care including nutrition assessment, care planning, monitoring, and education.

 

Duties & Essential Job Functions:

1. Provides nutritional services which may consist of the following: assist students with any physician prescribed diet related goals or general promotion of healthful eating habits
2. Completes documentation of clinical notes in a timely manner and follows all ethical rules and guidelines of relevant state licensure boards
3. Collaborates with the Director, professional colleagues, and Health Center providers regarding case management and appropriate referral of clients with long-term or serious nutritional concerns to appropriate specialists and agencies outside of the university setting
4. Performs other related duties as assigned

 

Required Education & Experience:

• Master’s degree in Nutritional Sciences or related field
• Must be a registered dietitian
• Minimum two years’ experience in nutrition counseling and education

 

Preferred Education & Experience:

• Experience working as part of a multi-disciplinary health and support team

 

Required Licensure/Certification/Specialized Training:

• Registered Dietitian (RD) in the state of Texas

 

Preferred Licensure, Certification, and/or Specialized Training:

• None

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Knowledge of excellent oral and written communication techniques, including clinical documentation
• Skill with electronic technology, including electronic health records and scheduling
• Ability to form working alliance with college-age clients
• Ability to develop and maintain positive professional relationships, and ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with supervisor, colleagues, and clients in a fast-paced environment

Physical Requirements (With or Without Accommodations):

• Visual acuity to read information from computer screens, forms and other printed materials and information.
• Able to speak (enunciate) clearly in conversation and general communication.
• Hearing ability for verbal communication/conversation/responses via telephone, telephone systems, and face-to-face interactions.
• Manual dexterity for typing, writing, standing and reaching, flexibility, body movement for bending, crouching, walking, kneeling and prolonged sitting.
• Lifting and moving objects and equipment up to 10 lbs.

 

Work Environment:

• Work is indoors and sedentary and is subject to schedule changes and/or variable work hours.
• This position is an on-campus job
• There are no harmful environmental conditions present for this job.
• The noise level in this work environment is usually moderate.
