Job Summary:

The Research Assistant is responsible for providing research assistance on-farm in support of a geology grant by facilitating project goals and objectives.

Duties & Essential Job Functions:

1. Performs assigned tasks to support research projects
2. Maintains accurate and timely record of results and applies quality control procedures to assure accuracy of results.
3. Collects samples per project guidelines and analyzes the samples
4. Processes and inputs all data collected.
5. Ensures the smooth operations of research objectives
6. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Education & Experience:

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• 1 plus year of experience with grant or research project support.

Preferred Education & Experience:

• Bachelor’s Degree

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Basic knowledge of soils and growing practices for tomatoes

Physical Requirements (With or Without Accommodations):

• Visual acuity to read information from computer screens, forms and other printed materials and information.
• Able to speak (enunciate) clearly in conversation and general communication.
• Hearing ability for verbal communication/conversation/responses via telephone, telephone systems, and face-to-face interactions.
• Manual dexterity for typing, writing, standing and reaching, flexibility, body movement for bending, crouching, walking, kneeling and prolonged sitting.
• Lifting and moving objects and equipment up to 50 lbs.

Work Environment:

• This position is primarily outdoors.
• This is an in-person, on-campus position. 
• Work schedule is subject to changes and/or variable work hours.
