Job Summary:

The Research Support Assistant will provide project support by facilitating project goals and objectives for Knight Research (Institute of Behavioral Research).

Duties & Essential Job Functions:

1. Supports research staff with funded projects reports and publications for National Institute of Health (NIH) and other funding agencies.
2. Proofreads and updates project database and reference materials, such as EndNotes databases and project bibliographies.
3. Assists in the formatting and deployment of new forms, surveys, and/or tables as needed.
4. Proofreads, edits, and assists with manuscripts for submission to various journals for publications.
5. Updates IBR databases as new publications are provided by research staff and updating previous ones (e.g., from “in press” to actual publication date).
6. Manages and updates IBR staff NIH Biosketches used in grant proposals (includes adding and updating citations to new publications).
7. Regularly updates Staff Vitae and the “Directory of IBR Publications” with manuscript ID numbers.
8. Maintains an organized filing system for manuscripts and project files.
9. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Education & Experience:

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• 1 plus year of experience with grant or research project support.

Preferred Education & Experience:

• Bachelor's Degree.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Knowledge of research techniques.
• Knowledge in preparation of grant applications or proposals to various agencies.
• Knowledge of citing resources for research such as APA, MLA, or Chicago/Turabian style.
• Skill in Microsoft Office and Excel and bibliographic databases such as EndNotes or comparable software.
• Ability to identify manuscript formatting problems, secure relevant information and determine possible solutions.
• Ability to manage multiple project assignments, priorities, and deadlines to meet long and short-term goals both as a team and as an independent contributor with minimal direction.
• Ability to draft grammatically correct correspondence.
• Ability to evaluate and make recommendations to improve operations.

Physical Requirements (With or Without Accommodations):

• Visual acuity to read information from computer screens, forms and other printed materials and information.
• Able to speak (enunciate) clearly in conversation and general communication.
• Hearing ability for verbal communication/conversation/responses via telephone, telephone systems, and face-to-face interactions.
• Manual dexterity for typing, writing, standing and reaching, flexibility, body movement for bending, crouching, walking, kneeling and prolonged sitting.
• Lifting and moving objects and equipment up to 10 lbs.

Work Environment:

• Work is indoors and sedentary and is subject to schedule changes and/or variable work hours.
• There are no harmful environmental conditions present for this job.
• The noise level in this work environment is usually moderate.
• This role is an on campus, in-person position.
