Responsibilities center on teaching three courses per semester (including introductory-level courses and an upper-division elective related to the professor's research area), and service to WGST. This is a one-year appointment to begin in August 2023, with the possibility of one renewal.

Required qualifications:
• A Ph.D. in Gender and Sexuality Studies or similar interdisciplinary field, or in a traditional discipline with significant demonstrated background and experience related to the study of WGST.
• Ability to teach introductory and upper-division courses in WGST.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Ability to contribute to TCU’s Core Curriculum, either through Writing Emphasis (WEM) designated courses or in Gender Studies-related courses in other departments within the college.

Department Details:

Started as a program in 1994, WGST became a department in 2018 and now includes four full-time faculty positions and a rotating affiliate chair, administrative support, dozens of affiliated faculty from across the university, and strong and growing support from the TCU administration and the AddRan College of Liberal Arts. The Department offers two majors, a minor, an undergraduate emphasis, and a graduate certificate in WGST.
TCU’s interdisciplinary department of Women & Gender Studies puts women, gender, and sexuality at the center of academic investigation. The department promotes inquiry into the intersections of gender with other identity categories; the workings of power in society; and the means of advancing social justice and equality. Through research, teaching and learning, and collaboration, the department fosters feminist and interdisciplinary analysis across social, historical, cultural and global contexts, products and practices.
