The Economist

Founded in 1873, Texas Christian University sits on 302 acres nestled in a primarily residential part of Fort Worth, just minutes away from downtown. The University includes seven schools and colleges, in addition to the John V. Roach Honors College and the Burnett School of Medicine.

Currently, TCU enrolls more than 10,200 undergraduates and 1,700 graduate students. Twenty-eight percent of students self-identify as a member of a minority group, five percent are international students, and forty-five percent are from out-of-state.

The University has more than 700 full-time faculty members and is a top 100 National University as classified by US News and World Report and has a Carnegie Classification of R2: Doctoral Universities – High Research Activity.

AddRan College of Liberal Arts

Named for TCU’s founders, Addison and Randolph Clark, the AddRan College of Liberal Arts is home to the core academic disciplines of the humanities and social sciences. The College includes approximately 155 full-time faculty members, 13 departments (Comparative Race & Ethnic Studies, Criminology and Criminal Justice, Economics, English, Geography, History, Modern Language Studies, Philosophy, Political Science, Religion, Sociology & Anthropology, Spanish and Hispanic Studies, and Women & Gender Studies), and two units of Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (Army and Air Force). AddRan College departments confer 17 Bachelor of Arts and 7 Bachelor of Science degrees, a Bachelor of General Studies, an online master’s degree in Criminology and Criminal Justice, a Master of Liberal Arts degree, and master’s and Ph.D. degrees in History, English, and Rhetoric and Composition.

Anne Burnett Marion School of Medicine

The Anne Burnett Marion School of Medicine, Fort Worth’s M.D. school, opened with a class of 60 students in July 2019. The School of Medicine’s focus on communication, a first-of-its-kind curriculum and the development of Empathetic Scholars™ uniquely positions the organization to radically transform medical education, improving care for future generations.

Bob Schieffer College of Communication

The college, which is named for TCU alumnus and longtime CBS network TV correspondent Bob Schieffer, is the academic home for four departments: Communication Studies; Film, Television and Digital Media; Journalism; and Strategic Communication. About 1,200 undergraduate student majors complete coursework in areas that include: Advertising and Public Relations; Cinema and Media Studies; Digital and Social Media; Health Communication and Media; Interpersonal and Organizational Communication; Journalism; and Sports Broadcasting. About 30 graduate students pursue master’s degrees in Communication Studies or Strategic Communication, and about 60 full-time and 10 part-time faculty teach in the college. The college’s award-winning student activities include print, video and digital news media, a speech and debate team, an advertising and public relations agency, a radio station, and sports broadcasting productions.

College of Education

TCU’s College of Education provides exceptional preparation for the most inspired and inspiring educators, counselors and leaders. TCU is the only university in the nation with two on-campus laboratory schools, Starpoint and KinderFrogs, for children with learning differences. The college has seven undergraduate programs, five master's programs and five doctoral programs, many nationally recognized, that offer degrees and paths to teacher certification in K-12 education, curriculum and instruction, curriculum studies, counseling and counselor education, educational leadership, higher education leadership, science education and special education. Students have the opportunity to engage in real-world experiences from their first semester with our center, institutes, programs and community partnerships, creating leaders in the classroom and beyond.

College of Fine Arts

The TCU College of Fine Arts is home to six units: the School of Art, the School for Classical & Contemporary Dance, the School of Music, the Department of Design, the Department of Fashion Merchandising, and the Department of Theatre. The college offers 33 undergraduate degree programs and 24 advanced degree programs to help prepare the next generation of creative leaders in the arts. Approximately 850 undergraduate students and 120 graduate and professional program students pursue their passions in the TCU College of Fine Arts. These talented students study under renowned professors and guest artists, annually present more than 350 public performances and presentations, and display art and design work in juried exhibitions and competitions, among other creative activities. The college also offers a certificate in Arts Leadership & Entrepreneurship and oversees two on-campus art galleries.

College of Science & Engineering

The TCU College of Science & Engineering (CSE) encompasses 10 departments (Biology, Chemistry & Biochemistry, Computer Science, Engineering, Environmental Sciences, Geological Sciences, Mathematics, Nutritional Sciences, Physics & Astronomy, and Psychology) as well as the Ranch Management Program. The College is also home to the Pre-Health Professions Institute, the Karyn Purvis Institute for Child Development, the Institute of Behavioral Research, the Institute for Ranch Management and the Monnig Meteorite Gallery. The College is the second largest at TCU in terms of both undergraduate enrollment and number of majors. The College also has five doctoral programs and 16 master’s programs as well as two graduate certificate programs. The College faculty are true teacher/scholars, meaning that instruction and research are viewed as complementary and not competing activities.

Harris College of Nursing & Health Science

The Harris College of Nursing & Health Sciences consists of programs that prepare future health care and human services professionals. Harris College is home to more than 1,600 students who are supported by committed and talented faculty and staff. Harris College offers 17 degree pathways in our health-related disciplines. Students benefit from learning experiences in campus laboratories and hospitals, clinics, schools, fitness facilities, and community service agencies throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth Area. On campus, the Miller Speech & Hearing Clinic provides services for more than 300 families each year and serves as a professional practice site for students majoring in speech pathology and habilitation of the deaf. TCU Nursing and the School of Nurse Anesthesia provide innovative learning experiences in their state-of-the-art simulation centers.

John V. Roach Honors College

The John V. Roach Honors College is a high-impact community where the complexities of knowledge are enthusiastically explored. The college supports more than 1,200 highly motivated students in their quest for intellectual and personal growth through interdisciplinary teaching, learning and research. This culture of inquiry is enhanced by small class sizes and students residing together in the Honors-designated residence hall. In 1962, TCU launched the Honors Program to set the campus standard for learning, exploration and achievement. In 2009, Paul and Judy Andrews of Fort Worth endowed the new Roach Honors College paying tribute to their friend and mentor, John V. Roach, a longtime Fort Worth civic and business leader, former chairman of the TCU Board of Trustees and CEO of the Tandy Corporation.

M.J. Neeley School of Business

Nationally ranked in several outlets, the TCU Neeley School of Business is comprised of six academic departments including Accounting, Entrepreneurship and Innovation, Information Systems and Supply Chain Management, Management and Leadership, Marketing, and Finance. The TCU Neeley School of Business has an annual enrollment of 3,248 (2021-2022) undergraduate and graduate students, 215 employees and 24,595 alumni. The Neeley School is proud to be fully accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB International) for our undergraduate and graduate programs. In addition, our Accounting department is among an elite number (less than 200) accredited by AACSB.
