The Assistant Coach Swimming is responsible for teaching athletic skills, strategies and techniques in the sport and mentor the student athletes by utilizing coaching methodologies in a competitive sport environment and fostering academic achievement of the student.
1. Assists in planning, critiquing and implementing strategies designed to achieve success in a competitive sports programs by breaking down and analyzing trends and strategies; making recommendations for new strategies.
2. Develops the student athlete's skills and performance during sports competition on the Division 1 level by teaching athletes new strategies and techniques, providing detailed game plans; implementing and conducting training programs; assists with the preparation and implementation of weekly practice and conditioning sessions; monitoring student's adherence to department, conference and NCAA guidelines, resolving issues and reporting infractions.
3. Identifies and recruits student athletes who are qualified to compete academically and athletically at the Division 1 level by analyzing and evaluating the skill level of potential recruits; analyzing and evaluating the academic potential of new recruits; assessing the needs of the program and the available options to fulfill individual personal needs.
4. Functions as a mentor and liaison with the Athletic Academic Office by working with assigned student athletes to assure proper academic progress is achieved according to the University Conference and NCAA guidelines; acts as the liaison with the office regarding the progress of assigned student athletes; participates and supports the student athlete's participation in the departments Life Skills programs; serves as a resource for personal issues such as nutrition, social, and family issues.
5. Assists with daily operations and management by preparing and maintaining proper documentation on NCAA related matters to ensure compliance on issues such as recruiting, official visits and practice schedules.

• This role is an on campus, in-person position.
