This full-time faculty position is on-campus and in-person.

The English department at Texas Christian University (TCU) seeks an assistant professor of Digital Humanities and American Studies. We seek a faculty member with a proven track record of research and teaching that engages with computational analysis, artificial intelligence digital media and other rapidly evolving tech advances, with expertise in applying these technologies to research questions in American literature and culture. Preference will be given to applicants with additional expertise in feminist studies. By also framing this as a hire in feminist studies, we seek to build on a departmental strength in women’s writing and gender and sexuality studies while taking it in a new direction. The candidate will have opportunities to teach courses cross-listed in TCU’s Women and Gender Studies (WGST) and Digital Culture and Data Analytics (DCDA) interdisciplinary programs.

Tenure-line faculty have an annual 3/2 course load. Newly hired pre-tenure faculty have substantial course release support. All tenure-line faculty teach at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. All tenure-line faculty mentor and advise undergraduates, mentor and advise graduate students, and serve on and direct PhD dissertation committees and MA thesis committees. There are substantial opportunities for innovative and collaborative course development at both the graduate and undergraduate levels. The position carries a competitive salary and internal research support.

The TCU Department of English offers majors and minors in English, Rhetoric and Writing and Creative Writing, master’s programs (Accelerated MA and English) and PhD programs (English and Rhetoric and Composition). Our 35 full-time faculty members are dedicated and productive teacher-scholars and university citizens and leaders. The department values and supports synergistic inquiry between the areas of study represented within the department as well as interdisciplinary connections with other units, including Women and Gender Studies, Comparative Race and Ethnic Studies, Asian Studies and Middle East Studies.

School/College Description:

Named for TCU’s founders, Addison and Randolph Clark, the AddRan College of Liberal Arts is home to the core academic disciplines of the humanities and social sciences. The College includes approximately 155 full-time faculty members, 13 departments (Comparative Race & Ethnic Studies, Criminology & Criminal Justice, Economics, English, Geography, History, Modern Language Studies, Philosophy, Political Science, Religion, Sociology & Anthropology, Spanish and Hispanic Studies, and Women & Gender Studies), and two units of Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (Army and Air Force). AddRan College departments confer 17 Bachelor of Arts and 7 Bachelor of Science degrees, a Bachelor of General Studies, an online master’s degree in Criminology and Criminal Justice, a Master of Liberal Arts degree, and master’s and Ph.D. degrees in History, English, and Rhetoric and Composition.
