Position Details:

This full-time faculty position is on-campus and in-person.

The Department of History at Texas Christian University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track assistant professor of the modern Middle East, to begin August 2025. The successful candidate must demonstrate the ability to teach survey courses on the history of the modern Middle East, undergraduate upper-level courses in their area of specialization, and seminars that support the department’s graduate program. In addition to teaching undergraduate and graduate students, other duties include carrying out a scholarly research agenda and contributing service at the department and university levels.
The position carries a 3/2 teaching load, competitive salary, and internal research support. Candidates must complete the PhD by July 2025.

Department Details:

The TCU Department of History has 19 full-time faculty members who lead an undergraduate program, including minors in Global History and in Military, War, and Conflict Studies, and a PhD program that specializes in US and Latin American history.

School/College Description:

Named for TCU’s founders, Addison and Randolph Clark, the AddRan College of Liberal Arts is home to the core academic disciplines of the humanities and social sciences. The College includes approximately 155 full-time faculty members, 13 departments (Comparative Race & Ethnic Studies, Criminology & Criminal Justice, Economics, English, Geography, History, Modern Language Studies, Philosophy, Political Science, Religion, Sociology & Anthropology, Spanish and Hispanic Studies, and Women & Gender Studies), and two units of Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (Army and Air Force). AddRan College departments confer 17 Bachelor of Arts and 7 Bachelor of Science degrees, a Bachelor of General Studies, an online master’s degree in Criminology and Criminal Justice, a Master of Liberal Arts degree, and master’s and Ph.D. degrees in History, English, and Rhetoric and Composition.
