The Assistant to the Dean facilitates school objectives by supervising staff and coordinates administrative affairs and programs in all matters related to the College of Education by supporting the Dean and the Dean’s initiatives.

1. Facilitates school objectives by interpreting and communicating regulations, requirements, and criteria to student and faculty; explaining guidelines and procedures to faculty, parents, students, and staff; advising director on policy and procedure improvements and implementing changes.
2. Manages school operations and administrative functions by planning and implementing office systems, layouts, equipment procurement, and facilities maintenance.
3. Monitors and maintains budgets by gathering and submitting information, scheduling expenditures, reconciling accounts; authorizing purchases for audience development and recruiting functions.
4. Completes special projects by organizing and coordinating information and requirement for program assessment and evaluations; course scheduling; planning, arranging, and meeting schedules; responsible for implementing results of these activities.
5. Coordinates events by arranging and attending meetings and school functions; determining meeting requirements and expediting services; providing coordination and assistance to the director.
6. Provides staff and office support for the dean, to include screening and handling telephone communications, greeting and directing visitors, and dealing with administrative problems and inquiries, as appropriate; serves as a primary point of contact and liaison between the office, students, and external constituencies on a range of day-to-day issues.
7. Organizes and facilitates meetings and special events; schedules and coordinates dates and times, venues, attendance, agendas, and facilities; takes minutes, and provides administrative support and follow up on matters arising from meetings.
8. Schedules and coordinates dean's appointments and/or travel arrangements, and coordinates and oversees daily office activities.
9. Gathers, enters, and/or updates data to maintain departmental records and databases, as appropriate; establishes and maintains files and records for the office.
10. Leads and guides the work of lower graded staff and/or student employees, as appropriate; may participate in training and evaluative sessions; may assist in selection, orientation, and planning..
11. Carries out and coordinates administrative activities associated with academic affairs, such as tenure, contracts and promotion of faculty reporting to the dean.
12. Coordinates and oversees the day-to-day management of supplies, equipment, and facilities for the organization, as appropriate, to include maintenance, inventory management, logistics, security, and related activities.
13. Provides direct support for budget and personnel management for the college; analyze and prepares budget and financial reports.
14. Serves as a program representative at meetings and events, on and off campus as required.
15. Performs other related duties as assigned.
• Bachelor's degree and 3 years' experience with higher education administration, teaching or academic programming.

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent and 7 years’ experience with higher education administration, teaching or academic programming.
