Job Summary:

The Associate Research Scientist IBR is responsible for performing research as directed by the department head; assists with presentations and publications communicating the results of the research; assisting Dir of Principal Investigator and Co-principal Investigators in carrying out the Institute's mission.

Duties & Essential Job Functions:

1. Serves as one of the Associate Research Scientists in the Institute of Behavioral Research (IBR) functioning directly under the supervision of the Director or Principal Investigator and Co-Principal Investigators.
2. Independently designs, carries out, and publishes in refereed journals the results of research studies relevant to the Institute's mission.
3. Serves as a Project Coordinator and as a member of research teams carrying out other studies initiated by other staff members.
4. Conducts statistical analyses and accurately interprets results of data collected on assigned projects and publishes results in refereed journals.
5. Serves as project coordinator of assigned research team addressing a variety of project issues, including the coordination and monitoring of training, data collection, reports, and research announcements.
6. Coordinates project planning and implementation on assigned projects.
7. Produces project progress reports and continuation applications for submission to federal funding agencies on assigned projects.
8. Prepares Institutional Review Board Protocol Review Requests on assigned projects.
9. Produces technical reports on areas of special interest to self or supervisor.
10. Provides supervisory responsibilities for specified aspects of treatment evaluation and technology transfer research areas.
11. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Education & Experience:

• Ph.D. in Psychology.
• 2 years' experience working on NIH research projects, including experience in the preparation and publication of scientific articles.
• Experience as a Research Assistant on federally funded grants with experience in designing, writing, and successfully implementing projects funded by external and non-university sources.

Required Licensure/Certification/Specialized Training:

• Valid Texas Driver's License.
• Must be insurable under the university motor vehicle requirements.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Knowledge of editorial skills in written and graphical communication.
• Knowledge of and familiarity with (and demonstrated ability to analyze and accurately interpret) information contained in a variety of large, complex, data sets; familiarity with (and demonstrated ability to conduct and accurately interpret) statistical packages such as SAS, HLM, and LISREL.
• Ability to perform advanced research.
• Ability to produce and analyze complex data.
• Ability to accurately document research results.
• Ability to evaluate and make recommendations to improve research methods.
• Ability to coordinate multiple projects and meet deadlines.

• Visual acuity to read information from computer screens, forms and other printed materials and information.
• Able to speak (enunciate) clearly in conversation and general communication.
• Hearing ability for verbal communication/conversation/responses via telephone, telephone systems, and face-to-face interactions.
• Manual dexterity for typing, writing, standing and reaching, flexibility, body movement for bending, crouching, walking, kneeling and prolonged sitting.
• Lifting and moving objects and equipment up to 10 lbs.

Work Environment:

• Work is indoors and sedentary and is subject to schedule changes and/or variable work hours.
• This role is an on-campus, in-person position.
• There are no harmful environmental conditions present for this job.
• The noise level in this work environment is usually moderate.
