Behavioral Lab Coordinator-Part-Time

Job Summary:

The Behavioral Lab Coordinator of the Neeley School of Business is responsible for the day-to-day functioning of the Neeley Behavioral Lab. This includes, but is not limited to: preparation and breakdown of lab studies; tracking of student assignments and lab participation; scheduling lab use; and maintaining lab inventory.

 

Duties & Essential Job Functions:

1. Leads behavioral experiments in individual, dyadic, and small group contexts in the Neeley Behavioral Lab and field settings
2. Manages the behavioral lab schedule and allocates time slots to faculty members to ensure proper access to lab resources and space.
3. Collaborates with various Neeley department faculty to create a student participant pool for behavioral lab activities. Once established, maintain records for student participant pool, coordinates their participation, and grows the pool through various channels.
4. Assesses quality control and necessary time allocation for various studies by performing and documenting pretests.
5. Assembles supplies and equipment needed for lab activities and prepares lab facilities prior to data collection.
6. Creates and manages student accounts in online experiment and research management system, SONA systems.
7. Tracks and maintains records of student participation and attendance to disseminate to appropriate faculty instructors
8. Responds to student inquiries regarding studies and participation as well as faculty/staff inquiries regarding use and capabilities of the lab.
9. Evaluates and grades alternative assignments for students who have opted out of a required study
10. Explores new opportunities to grow the behavioral labs capabilities and resources, including the creation of a paid non-student participant pool for studies.
11. Maintains safe and compliant working environment by following procedures, rules, and regulations and by ensuring lab users remain in compliance.
12. Trains and supervises undergraduate research assistants involved Behavioral Lab activities
13. Performs other related duties as assigned.

 

Required Education & Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field
• Experience working with or teaching others in a lab or classroom setting

 

Preferred Education & Experience:

• Masters’ degree
• Experience with experiment and/or survey design
• Experience with data cleaning, data labeling, content coding, and/or statistics

 

Required Licensure/Certification/Specialized Training:

• None

 

Preferred Licensure, Certification, and/or Specialized Training:

• Knowledge of survey software such as Qualtrics

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Knowledge of customer service techniques.
• Knowledge of communications and interpersonal techniques.
• Knowledge of basic research techniques.
• Skill in the use of Microsoft Office including Word and Excel.
• Skill in problem solving and communicating resolutions.
• Ability to communicate clearly both orally and in writing.
• Ability to draft grammatically correct correspondence.
• Ability to instruct, supervise, and interact with students and staff/adults from paid pools.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
• Ability to make recommendations to improve procedures.
• Ability to employ a high attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and with a team.

Physical Requirements (With or Without Accommodations):

• Visual acuity to read information from computer screens, forms and other printed materials and information.
• Able to speak (enunciate) clearly in conversation and general communication.
• Hearing ability for verbal communication/conversation/responses via telephone, telephone systems, and face-to-face interactions.
• Manual dexterity for typing, writing, standing and reaching, flexibility, body movement for bending, crouching, walking, kneeling and prolonged sitting.
• Lifting and moving objects and equipment up to 10 lbs.

 

Work Environment:

• Work is indoors and sedentary and is subject to schedule changes and/or variable work hours.
• This role is an on campus, in-person position.
• There are no harmful environmental conditions present for this job.
• The noise level in this work environment is usually moderate.
