Job Summary:

The Coordinator of Student Activities helps develop campus community and student leadership skills through the creation of a comprehensive campus programming model. The Coordinator will work with Student Activities staff members and graduate assistants to develop and implement timely, effective student events and student advising.

Duties & Essential Job Functions:

1. Develops an innovative, educational, and diverse schedule of programs and activities for students as a part of the Student Activities team.
2. Supervises on-site programs and activities, including some night and weekend programs.
3. Serves as the primary advisor for one of Student Activities’ leadership boards.
4. Assists in the leadership development and growth of students through recruiting, training, and supporting student leaders.
5. Serves as the liaison between recognized student organizations and programming board by assisting with and advising collaborative events.
6. Works collaboratively with the Student Government Association to support student organization funding through purchasing, funding allocation, and event support.
7. Serves as an event consultant for student organizations, coaching student organization leaders through the event planning process and referring them to appropriate campus resources.
8. Collaborates in the planning and execution of University-wide traditions, including but not limited to Family Weekend, Homecoming, Tree Lighting, and live performances.
9. Works in collaboration with Student Affairs Marketing to provide marketing and advertising support for office events.
10. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Education & Experience:

• Master’s Degree in Higher Education, Student Personnel Services, Leadership Development, or a related field of study.

Preferred Education & Experience:

• 1-2 years of program management experience in a higher education environment including, but not limited to, advising, teaching, or facilitating student development.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Skill in instruction, facilitation, and training techniques.
• Skill in effective public speaking.
• Strong organizational skills with attention to details.
• Skill in effective written and verbal communication of complex information that is accurate, timely and based on sound judgment.
• Ability to apply student development theory to planning, marketing, and implementing events and programs.
• Ability to advise, mentor, and supervise student leaders.
• Ability to balance multiple projects simultaneously.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Knowledge of customer service techniques.
• Skill in the use of Microsoft Office to include Word, Excel and Outlook.

Physical Requirements (With or Without Accommodations):

• Visual acuity to read information from computer screens, forms and other printed materials and information.
• Able to speak (enunciate) clearly in conversation and general communication.
• Hearing ability for verbal communication/conversation/responses via telephone, telephone systems, and face-to-face interactions.
• Manual dexterity for typing, writing, standing and reaching, flexibility, body movement for bending, crouching, walking, kneeling and prolonged sitting.
• Lifting and moving objects and equipment up to 10 lbs.

Work Environment:

• Work is indoors and sedentary and is subject to schedule changes and/or variable work hours.
• Work hours will include some evening and weekend commitments.
• There are no harmful environmental conditions present for this job.
• The noise level in this work environment is usually moderate.
• This is an in person, on campus position.
