The Director of the TCU College Advising Corps leads the development and execution of the TCU CAC program and works to ensure its financial sustainability. This includes overseeing the recruitment, hiring, training, and placement of college advisers across partner high schools, establishing key performance outcomes, and working to drive success. The Director works closely with the program’s senior leadership team, campus coordinators, and University leadership to ensure the successful implementation and management of the program, helping to support college access initiatives for students throughout the region.
1. Program Management: Leads the day-to-day operations of the TCU College Advising Corps program. Manage program administration and ensure the effective execution of activities. Supervises assistant directors and one program coordinator, and/or other staff, fostering a collaborative work environment. Proactively identifies opportunities to publicize and promote the program’s initiatives and successes.
2. Staff Recruitment, Training, and Supervision: Oversees the recruitment, hiring, training, and evaluation of college advisers. Organizes and facilitates on-campus summer training sessions and site-based training throughout the year. Assists college advisers in developing site-specific plans and visit their assigned high schools to provide support, troubleshoot concerns, and offer guidance. Assesses college adviser effectiveness and encourage continuous professional development. Provides regular supervision, coaching, and leadership to advisers, maintaining strong communication with them to ensure they remain engaged with students and their communities. Works with the Advising Corps and Human Resources to ensure adherence to program guidelines and university policies during the hiring process.
3. Partner High School Relations: Builds and maintains strong relationships with partner high schools, ensuring clear and ongoing communication between the university, Advising Corps staff, and school personnel. Oversees and manages Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) with partner schools. Collaborates with school administrators and site supervisors to resolve issues and address any concerns. Initiates and facilitates regular meetings with high school guidance counselors and administrators to gather feedback, review program activities, and ensure alignment with school goals. Proactively addresses potential concerns and maintain effective communication with all stakeholders to ensure the success of the program.
4. Budget, Grant, and Fundraising Management: Oversees the Advising Corps program budget and manages all aspects of grant funding, including budget tracking, ensuring deliverables are met, and completing financial and narrative reports. Coordinates site visits and respond to inquiries from grant agencies. Works with university business offices to ensure proper management of grant funds, maintain accurate records, and prepare necessary financial reports. Collaborates with administrators from funding organizations to provide updates on program outcomes, progress, and activities as requested. In addition, leads fundraising efforts by identifying potential funding sources, developing strategies to secure financial support, and coordinating fundraising initiatives to ensure the program’s financial sustainability.
5. Program Evaluation and Assessment: Ensures campus coordinators and college advisers are tracking their service using the Advising Corps online case management system (GRACE) and generate reports on their activities. Works closely with partners and district data contacts as needed to review progress and set goals. Evaluates program effectiveness through regular high school visits, develop a formal review process with partner schools, and assess progress against program objectives. Makes recommendations for program enhancements based on evaluation results. Monitors adviser performance to ensure alignment with program goals and model.
6. Funding Support and Development: Collaborates with the development office to identify and implement activities that generate financial support for the program. Identifies and pursues grant opportunities, which will include grant writing, and responding to inquiries from grant agencies. Represents the program to media, community organizations, and other stakeholders to increase awareness and support.
7. Serve as a Resource: Acts as the primary liaison between the TCU College Advising Corps chapter and the and the National College Advising Corps. Ensures compliance with grant guidelines and align efforts with the strategic growth and expansion plan. Participates in regular Program Director calls, meetings, and training sessions. Provides timely reports and updates to national CAC as requested.
8. Promote Marketing and Program Relationships: Builds and maintains relationships with other college access programs, community agencies, business leaders, alumni, and local stakeholders to foster collaboration and identify fundraising opportunities. Advises on the continuation of partnerships with high schools from year to year. Provides regular updates on the Advising Corps program to the campus community, including administration, and facilitate communication among University staff involved in the program (e.g., development office, sponsored programs, College of Education). Attends relevant conferences to stay informed on trends in college access and advising and to network with industry professionals.
9. Performs other related duties as required to support the success and sustainability of the Advising Corps program and contribute to the University’s mission.
• Master’s degree in a related field.
• 7 years’ in program administration or coordination.
• Doctorate degree in a related field.
• Valid Driver's License.
• Must be insurable under the university motor vehicle requirements.
