The Director of University Events and Community Projects is responsible for managing internal and external groups utilizing campus facilities by directing events; marketing facilities; identifying service needs; overseeing daily operations and prioritizing TCU’s mission. Historically, this unit serves 250-300 events bringing more than 100,000 visitors to campus annually.
1. Oversees daily events and programs across campus delivering a high level of customer service and support to campus partners.
2. Ensures campus utilization aligns with university goals and adapts to internal and external changes; Collaborates, unifies, and steers stakeholder needs towards tactical and strategic alignment with university goals.
3. Develops and manages promotional plans to market the department to external organizations, representing University Events to both internal and external constituents.
4. Supervises professional staff, student employees and summer program assistants. Provides ongoing guidance to ensure strong job performance.
5. Manages the department’s budget and revenue potential by tracking expenditures, analyzing discrepancies, and establishing campus use rates in comparison to the market.
6. As program lead for summer season, oversees cross-functional, interdepartmental working teams for summer operations with campus partners.
7. Coordinates complex, large-scale, and high-visibility events such as high school graduations, fine arts performances, and competitions, conferences, meetings, and other events.
8. Protects critical university resources, personnel, and facilities by guiding department strategy, making informed decisions, leading teams, and executing initiatives involving risk management, contract negotiations, compliance requirements, youth protections, and campus reservations.
9. Develops new revenue streams to meet department goals and deliver value to campus partners.
10. Coordinates campus filming activities that benefit both the university and the student community.
11. Leads strategic analysis and change management, improving communication, workflow, and processes and strengthen relationships and efficacy of event and venue management.
12. Supports and strengthens the overall campus experience for guests, visitors, and community members with superior hospitality.
13. Reports on total impact of events programs, including facility usage, resources and inputs, targeted audiences, makeup of event portfolio, engagement strategy, and strategic touchpoints with guests and visitors
14. Supports university events, including Commencement, sponsorships and other key functions.
15. Performs additional duties as assigned.
• Bachelor’s degree.
• 5 years’ experience in conference and/or special events management; including staff supervision.

• Knowledge of campus operating structures, facilities and personnel, such as those in residence life, student affairs, academic affairs, physical plant, and other institutional priorities
• Skill in some or all components of Microsoft Office, RingCentral, and Zoom.
• Skill in the navigation of Microsoft Windows.
• Ability to implement various scheduling programs.
• Ability to interpret, communicate, and apply campus protocols, policies, and procedures to complex situations
• Ability to interact with wide variety of constituencies and peers using a diverse array communication tools.
• Ability to review and make recommendations to improve, streamline processes, and be in compliance with policies.
• Ability to train and lead staff.
• Ability to adapt to ambiguous and dynamic projects, distill information and prioritize changing needs quickly
