Job Summary:

The Event Specialist is responsible for researching, creating, coordinating and implementing stakeholder events for the Neeley School of Business for up to 20 hours a week from approximately October 1, 2024 through February 1, 2025.

 

Duties & Essential Job Functions:

1. Conducts comprehensive event planning including budgeting, registration, coordination, implementation, and post-event evaluation, including post event budget reconciliation. Events may include, but not be limited to, gatherings (on/off campus), conferences, advisory board meetings, guest lectures, alumni programming, speaker series, student recruiting and mentoring activities, and student/faculty projects.
2. Develops comprehensive plans and timelines to coordinate events across the Neeley School.
3. Works with the Executive Director, External Relations, and team to broaden and enhance Neeley School relationships with prospective and current students/parent, faculty/staff, alumni, and corporate partners.
4. Designs (working with the Neeley External Relations team) and implements communication and publicity for stakeholders.
5. Oversees the production of events, including venue selection and site visits, production of collateral materials, RSVP management, catering, volunteer coordination, and event-day logistics.
6. Supports activities for Neeley Alumni and Constituent Relations programming.
7. Coordinates events with Neeley academic departments, Centers of Excellence, and select University-wide events.
8. Performs other related duties as assigned.

 

Required Education & Experience:

• Bachelors’ degree.
• 3 plus years’ experience in event planning or related experience.

Physical Requirements (With or Without Accommodations):

• Visual acuity to read information from computer screens, forms and other printed materials and information.
• Able to speak (enunciate) clearly in conversation and general communication.
• Hearing ability for verbal communication/conversation/responses via telephone, telephone systems, and face-to-face interactions.
• Manual dexterity for typing, writing, standing and reaching, flexibility, body movement for bending, crouching, walking, kneeling and prolonged sitting.
• Lifting and moving objects and equipment up to 10 lbs.

 

Work Environment:

• Work is indoors and sedentary and is subject to schedule changes and/or variable work hours.
• There are no harmful environmental conditions present for this job.
• The noise level in this work environment is usually moderate.
• This role is an on campus, in-person position.
