The Manager Printing Services manages the document printing and copying services of the university by controlling daily operations, supervising production and administrative staff.
1. Manages daily operations by ensuring compliance with university, state and federal laws, policies, regulations and operating agreements.
2. Supervises staff by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring and appraising job results; coaching, counseling and disciplining employees; developing, coordinating and implementing policies and productivity standards.
3. Plans the business functions by coordinating operations, job scheduling and production, marketing and advertising; ensuring customer service; developing strategies for generating resources and revenue.
4. Accomplishes financial objectives by participating in planning for operating budgets; managing cost recovery process; preparing quarterly and annual budget reports.
5. Establishes department goals by designing, implementing and managing strategies for document production services campus-wide, including offset printing, digital printing services and finishing/bindery services.
6. Manages convenience copier services by developing and implementing convenience copier fleet program; preparing proposals and quotes from copier vendors; evaluating equipment, services and costs; recommending vendors to management.
7. Provides information by maintaining sales, work order and inventory records; performing periodic and seasonal forecasting; reviewing prior years' production and sales history.
8. Controls inventory by coordinating and monitoring purchasing of operating supplies; interacting with outside vendors for supplies and/or outsourcing production.
9. Provides quality services by designing and implementing processes to enhance operations and services; evaluating customer satisfaction; implementing improvements.
10. Performs other related duties as assigned.
• Bachelor's Degree in graphic arts or related business field or equivalent in experience.
• 5 years of experience in an in-plant or commercial printing operation or related environment.

• Knowledge of printing and copying production processes, including estimating, pre-press, four-color process, high-speed networked, digital printing/copying, and finishing.
• Knowledge of computer applications related to production operations.
• Knowledge of copyright laws and standards.
• Knowledge of budgeting, cost estimating and fiscal management principles and procedures.
• Knowledge of problem-solving techniques.
• Knowledge of customer service techniques.
• Skill in some or all components of Microsoft Office, and skill in Microsoft Windows 2000 navigation.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
