Job Summary:

The Postdoctoral Research Associate will work in the Kinesiology department and will be responsible for leading data collection and analysis in conjunction with an NIH-funded project investigating perspectives related to advances in prosthetics technology. This is a one-year position with the possibility of renewal for a second-year given satisfactory progress.

Duties & Essential Job Functions:

1. Collects, schedules, manages, and analyzes participant data.
2. Contributes to the preparation and submission of abstracts, professional presentations, manuscripts, grant proposals and reports. Disseminates findings for both scholarly and practitioner audiences.
3. Collaborates with other team members on all aspects of this research.
4. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Education & Experience:

• PhD in rehabilitation sciences, psychology, kinesiology, healthcare, or related field
• Experience leading research projects

Preferred Education & Experience:

• Experience with qualitative methodology and survey methodology
• Experience leading research studies that center people with limb loss and limb difference

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Skills in project organization and management
• Skill in outstanding verbal and written communication.
• Ability to work independently and as a team member
• Ability to learn additional approaches to data collection and analyses (e.g., qualitative, quantitative, mixed methods)
• Ability to demonstrate excellent organizational and time management skills including the accurate estimate of timelines and adherence to deadlines.
• Ability to use strong communication and writing skills.

Physical Requirements (With or Without Accommodations):

• Visual acuity to read information from computer screens, forms and other printed materials and information.
• Able to speak (enunciate) clearly in conversation and general communication.
• Hearing ability for verbal communication/conversation/responses via telephone, telephone systems, and face-to-face interactions.
• Manual dexterity for typing, writing, standing and reaching, flexibility, body movement for bending, crouching, walking, kneeling and prolonged sitting.
• Lifting and moving objects and equipment up to 10 lbs.

Work Environment:

• Work is indoors and sedentary and is subject to schedule changes and/or variable work hours.
• There are no harmful environmental conditions present for this job.
• The noise level in this work environment is usually moderate.
