Job Summary:

The Flight Experience Coordinator serves as the primary liaison between the university and its designated flight training provider(s), coordinating the academic components of the university's flight education program and assisting with securing and maintaining FAA Part 141 certification. The Coordinator facilitates communication and collaboration among students, faculty, university offices, and flight training personnel; supports student progression through ground and flight training; collaborates on partnership agreements with external providers; and may serve as an instructor of record for designated university aviation courses. The position ensures alignment between university academic requirements, FAA training standards, and flight training curriculum while supporting student success, program quality, and continuous improvement. TCU is pursuing initial FAA Part 141 certification and the establishment of an R-ATP-eligible flight training program. The Flight Coordinator supports the planning, documentation, compliance, and operational readiness required for program approval. This is a one-year, 12-month staff position with continued employment pending available funding.

Duties & Essential Job Functions:

1. Serves as the primary liaison between the university and designated flight training provider(s), coordinating communication, operations, and partnerships to support the university's flight education program.
2. The Flight Coordinator supports the planning, documentation, compliance, and operational readiness required for FAA program approval.
3. Collaborates with college and university leadership in the development, implementation, renewal, and monitoring of memoranda of understanding (MOUs), affiliation agreements, contracts, and other partnership agreements with flight training providers and aviation organizations.
4. Coordinates the academic components of the university's flight education program, ensuring alignment between university curriculum, flight and ground training, FAA regulations, and program learning outcomes.
5. Provides supervision of or serve as instructor of record for designated aviation courses, including administering course assignments, assessing student learning, assigning grades, maintaining academic records, and ensuring compliance with university academic policies.
6. Monitors student progression through flight and ground training, collaborates with faculty and flight instructors to promote successful completion of flight ratings, advises flight students on ratings, and collaborates with college advising personnel.
7. Maintains flight records and data related to student enrollment, academic progress, flight rating milestones, and program outcomes; assists with assessment, accreditation, reporting, and continuous improvement activities.
8. Collaborates with university offices to support and participate in student recruitment, orientation, retention, persistence, graduation, and career readiness activities for aviation students.
9. Supports relationships with flight training providers, airport personnel, and industry partners to facilitate student learning opportunities and program activities
10. Monitors FAA regulations, industry trends, and workforce needs and recommends program enhancements.
11. Serves on college committees and performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Education & Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in Aviation, Aeronautical Science, Aviation Management, Aerospace Studies, Aviation Education, or a closely related field.
• 3 years of progressively responsible experience and employment in flight instruction, flight school operations, aviation education, collegiate aviation, and/or aviation program administration.
• Experience working within a flight training center, such as an FAA Part 141 and/or Part 61 flight school.
• Demonstrated experience collaborating with multiple stakeholders to include students, faculty, flight instructors, FAA personnel, and/or external aviation partners.

Preferred Education & Experience:

• Master's degree in Aviation, Higher Education, Educational Leadership, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Experience working with a collegiate or university flight education program.
• Experience serving as an instructor of record or teaching credit-bearing aviation coursework.
• Experience developing or coordinating educational partnerships, affiliation agreements, or contractual relationships with external organizations.

Required Licensure/Certification/Specialized Training:

• None

Preferred Licensure, Certification, and/or Specialized Training:

• FAA Certified Flight Instructor (CFI) Certificate.
• Current FAA Medical Certificate or ability to obtain and maintain one.
• Additional FAA ratings or aviation industry certifications.

• Knowledge of FAA regulations, flight training requirements, aviation safety standards, and collegiate aviation best practices.
• Knowledge of flight school operations, ground school instruction, and student pilot training progression.
• Ability to coordinate academic and operational activities across multiple organizations.
• Ability to interpret and communicate university academic policies, FAA regulations, and program requirements.
• Strong organizational, project management, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to establish and maintain collaborative relationships with students, faculty, staff, flight instructors, aviation partners, and external stakeholders.
• Ability to collect, analyze, and report data to support assessment and continuous program improvement.

• Visual acuity to review electronic records, instructional materials, and aviation documentation.
• Able to communicate effectively in person, by telephone, and through electronic communication platforms.
• Able to travel locally to airports, flight training facilities, partner organizations, and recruitment events.
• Abe to move throughout office, classroom, airport, and flight training environments.
• Lifting and moving objects and equipment up to 20 lbs.

Work Environment:

• Work is performed in office, classroom, airport, and flight training environments.
• Regular interaction with students, faculty, flight instructors, aviation personnel, and external partners.
• Occasional evening and weekend work may be required to support recruitment, orientation, outreach, and program activities.
• Periodic travel to partner flight training facilities and aviation-related events is required.
• This is an on-campus, in-person position with regular responsibilities at designated flight training locations.
