Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) Research Associate

Job Summary:

The Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) Research Associate will serve on an NIH-funded R01 project focused on bilingual vocabulary intervention for young children. The Associate will be part of an interdisciplinary research team contributing to work in bilingual language intervention, developmental language disorder, school-based services, and technology-supported intervention. A major priority for the Associate is the ability to build and maintain strong partnerships with school districts, school administrators, school-based SLPs, families, and community partners. The individual in this role should feel comfortable communicating with school leadership, explaining project needs, supporting school-based recruitment, and helping maintain positive relationships with participating schools. This role requires an individual bilingual in Spanish & English.

Duties & Essential Job Functions:

1. Builds and maintains collaborative relationships with school districts, school administrators, school-based Speech-Language Pathologists, teachers, families, and community partners.
2. Supports recruitment of participating schools, SLPs, children, and families by communicating professionally with school and district leadership about the project and helping to identify appropriate ways the research team can support participating schools.
3. Coordinates school-based research activities across assessment and intervention cycles.
4. Supports bilingual Spanish-English assessment and intervention activities.
5. Trains and supervises SLP student clinicians.
6. Enters, organizes, and manages research data. Ensures proper collection and maintenance of all research documentation. Assists with video-recorded research data collection.
7. Supports fidelity monitoring for various programs, activities, and initiatives.
8. Manages project technology by keeping inventory and ensuring devices are properly maintained, including iPads, computers, apps, and video equipment.
9. Assists in coordinating participant compensation and maintaining accurate research records of payments.
10. Follows approved research protocols for consent, confidentiality, data security, and ethical participant communication.
11. As needed, assists with professional presentations and dissemination activities related to the project
12. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Education & Experience:

• Master’s degree in speech-language pathology or related field
• Experience working with schools, school districts, or school-based service delivery
• Experience working with young children

Preferred Education & Experience:

• None

Required Licensure/Certification/Specialized Training:

• ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence, CCC-SLP
• Spanish-English bilingual proficiency

• Knowledge of technology for assessment, intervention, and data collection
• Strong communication skills with school personnel, administrators, families, and professional partners
• Strong organizational skills and ethical decision-making
• Ability to support school-based recruitment through communication, follow-up, organization, and relationship-building
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple responsibilities

• Visual acuity to read information from computer screens, forms and other printed materials and information.
• Able to speak (enunciate) clearly in conversation and general communication.
• Hearing ability for verbal communication/conversation/responses via telephone, telephone systems, and face-to-face interactions.
• Manual dexterity for typing, writing, standing and reaching, flexibility, body movement for bending, crouching, walking, kneeling and prolonged sitting.
• Lifting and moving objects and equipment up to 10 lbs.

Work Environment:

• Work is indoors and sedentary and is subject to schedule changes and/or variable work hours.
• This role is an on campus, in-person position but often requires travel to and work at local schools and community sites.
• There are no harmful environmental conditions present for this job.
• The noise level in this work environment is usually moderate.
