Job Summary:

The Theatre Youth Summer Camp Counselor provides support for TCU Department of Theatre Summer Camp Program by providing educational theatre opportunities to enrolled campers during the two-week day camp.

Duties & Essential Job Functions:

1. Assists campers with daily camp activities.
2. Ensures that campers are supervised at all times.
3. Maintains a safe and enjoyable camp environment.
4. Keeps track of supplies for camp and convey any needs to administrative staff.
5. Performs head-counts of participants throughout the day.
6. Ensures participants are safe (properly hydrated, playing/meeting areas are free of hazards, etc.).
7. Interacts with parents/guardians during drop-off and pick-up times.
8. Assists in duties for daily set-up and clean-up of the camp area.
9. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Education & Experience:

• Experience working with children in an educational setting.

Preferred Education & Experience:

• Experience teaching at the elementary and/or secondary level preferred.
• Experience in theater with either performance or theater technology experience preferred.

Required Licensure/Certification/Specialized Training:

• None

Preferred Licensure, Certification, and/or Specialized Training:

• Elementary or secondary teacher certificate.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Skill in public speaking in small groups, leading small groups, and classroom or group management.

Physical Requirements (With or Without Accommodations):

• Visual acuity to read information from computer screens, forms and other printed materials and information.
• Able to speak (enunciate) clearly in conversation and general communication.
• Hearing ability for verbal communication/conversation/responses via telephone, telephone systems, and face-to-face interactions.
• Manual dexterity for typing, writing, standing and reaching, flexibility, body movement for bending, crouching, walking, kneeling and prolonged sitting.
• Lifting and moving objects and equipment up to 10 lbs.

Work Environment:

• Work is indoors and sedentary and is subject to schedule changes and/or variable work hours.
• This role is an on campus, in-person position.
• There are no harmful environmental conditions present for this job.
• The noise level in this work environment is usually moderate.
