Job Summary:

The Assistant Cheer Coach assists the Director of Spirit with TCU Cheer practices and/or performances by attending rehearsals and home football, volleyball, basketball games and other performances as required.

 

Duties & Essential Job Functions:

1. Attends Cheer practices as assigned by Spirit Director
2. Attends football, volleyball, basketball games as assigned by Spirit Director
3. Assists Spirit Director in coaching/teaching TCU Cheer at practices and home games as scheduled.
4. Attends game day operations meetings, staff meetings, and captain meetings as assigned.
5. Performs other related duties as assigned.

 

Required Education & Experience:

• Bachelor’s Degree.
• 4 years collegiate cheer team experience.

 

Preferred Education & Experience:

• Previous teaching experience in dance technique and performance at the elite or collegiate level.

 

Required Licensure/Certification/Specialized Training:

• None

 

Preferred Licensure, Certification, and/or Specialized Training:

• UCA/NCA staff and/or other collegiate game day cheer program experience.

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Knowledge and understanding of college student development and learning.
• Knowledge of crowd involvement and safety measures.
• Skill in communication, presentation and interpersonal techniques.
• Ability to adhere to and support university spirit squad priorities, philosophy and guidelines.
• Ability to work nights, weekends and holidays.

Physical Requirements (With or Without Accommodations):

• Visual acuity to read information from computer screens, forms and other printed materials and information.
• Able to speak (enunciate) clearly in conversation and general communication.
• Hearing ability for verbal communication/conversation/responses via telephone, telephone systems, and face-to-face interactions.
• Manual dexterity for typing, writing, standing and reaching, flexibility, body movement for bending, crouching, walking, kneeling and prolonged sitting.
• Lifting and moving objects and equipment up to 15 pounds.

 

Work Environment:

• Work is indoors and outdoors and is subject to schedule changes and/or variable work hours.
• This is an on campus, in-person position.
• Some travel is required as scheduled by the Spirit Director.
• There are no harmful environmental conditions present for this job.
• The noise level in this work environment is usually moderate to loud.
