Job Summary:

PianoTexas International Festival and Academy is a premier annual event hosted by the Texas Christian University (TCU) School of Music. Dedicated to nurturing and showcasing emerging and accomplished pianists from around the world, the Festival features masterclasses, concerts, competitions, and collaborative performances with renowned artists and orchestras.
The Assistant of Operations and Participant Relations plays a key support role in ensuring the seamless execution of festival logistics and maintaining high-quality experiences for all participants, including artists, students, and faculty. This position requires exceptional organizational, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills, as well as a passion for classical music and live performance.

 

Duties & Essential Job Functions:

1. Assists in coordinating festival logistics, including venue scheduling, transportation, accommodations, and meal arrangements.
2. Maintains inventory and organization of equipment, instruments, and materials required for events.
3. Supports daily operations during the festival, including check-ins, backstage coordination, and room setups.
4. Collaborates with production teams and venue staff to ensure readiness for concerts, rehearsals, and masterclasses.
5. Serves as the primary point of contact for festival participants, providing information, schedules, and guidance before and during the event.
6. Coordinates arrival and departure logistics, including transportation and housing assignments.
7. Addresses participant needs, inquiries and concerns promptly and professionally.
8. Maintains accurate records of participant data and communication history.
9. Performs other related duties as assigned.

 

Required Education & Experience:

• Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance or pedagogy, related experience in managing music festivals

 

Preferred Education & Experience:

• Master’s Degree

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Knowledge of piano repertoire.
• Skill in effective communication, both written and verbal.
• Ability to help with event management

Physical Requirements (With or Without Accommodations):

• Visual acuity to read information from computer screens, forms and other printed materials and information.
• Able to speak (enunciate) clearly in conversation and general communication.
• Hearing ability for verbal communication/conversation/responses via telephone, telephone systems, and face-to-face interactions.
• Manual dexterity for typing, writing, standing and reaching, flexibility, body movement for bending, crouching, walking, kneeling and prolonged sitting.
• Lifting and moving objects and equipment up to 10 lbs.

 

Work Environment:

• Work is indoors and sedentary and is subject to schedule changes and/or variable work hours.
• This role is an on campus, in-person position.
• There are no harmful environmental conditions present for this job.
• The noise level in this work environment is usually moderate.
