Job Summary:

The Assistant Supervisor Service Assistant is responsible for ensuring daily operations by assisting Supervisor; monitoring work process of Service Assistants.

Duties & Essential Job Functions:

1. Ensures daily work assigned by the Supervisor Service Assistant is accomplished by performing Service Assistant duties such as: dusting, cleaning, sweeping, stocking, disposing of trash, and setting up and arranging furniture in addition to supervision and leadership duties as when assigned by the Supervisor Service Assistant.
2. Accomplishes staff job results by assisting Supervisor in coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; implementing enforcing systems, policies, and procedures.
3. Assists Supervisor with training requirements by monitoring staff on cleaning methods, equipment operation, or room set up.
4. Maintains operations by monitoring schedules; assigning and monitoring work; troubleshooting daily operational problems; responding to emergencies; assisting with records maintenance; implementing new procedures.
5. Maintains safe and healthy work environment by establishing and enforcing organization standards; adhering to legal regulations, preparing chemicals for cleaning supplies.
6. Monitor assets by inventorying supplies and equipment; following manufacturer’s recommendation for equipment, or supplies; securing keys and property.
7. Provides quality service by enforcing quality and customer service standards.
8. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Education & Experience:

• High school diploma or GED.
• 3 years of cleaning experience, including acting as team leader.

Preferred Education & Experience:

• None

Required Licensure/Certification/Specialized Training:

• Valid Texas Driver's License.
• Must be insurable under the university motor vehicle requirements.
• Satisfactory results from a post-offer physical examination.

• None

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Knowledge of safety regulations.
• Knowledge of job-related policies and regulations.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Windows.
• Knowledge of basic computer operations.
• Knowledge of basic Spanish/English communication.
• Knowledge of basic record keeping techniques.
• Knowledge of training techniques.
• Knowledge of customer service techniques.
• Skill in some or all components of Microsoft Office.
• Ability to work with cleaning chemicals.
• Ability to communicate verbally.
• Ability to draft grammatically correct correspondence.

Physical Requirements (With or Without Accommodations):

• Visual acuity to read information from computer screens, forms and other printed materials and information.
• Able to speak (enunciate) clearly in conversation and general communication.
• Hearing ability for verbal communication/conversation/responses via telephone, telephone systems, and face-to-face interactions.
• Manual dexterity for typing, writing, standing and reaching, flexibility, body movement for bending, crouching, walking, kneeling, climbing ladders and stairs, and prolonged sitting.
• Lifting and moving objects and equipment up to 20 lbs.

Work Environment:

• Work is indoors/outdoors and not sedentary and is subject to schedule changes and/or variable work hours.
• May be exposed to hazardous materials and noxious fumes on occasion.
• The noise level in this work environment is usually moderate.
• This role is an on campus, in-person position.
