Job Summary:

The Associate Director of Graphic Design is responsible for supporting TCU Athletics marketing, communications and creative content. This position is responsible for developing, overseeing and maintaining all design projects for TCU Athletics resulting in an integrated strategy to advance the TCU Athletics brand. This person collaborates with other external departments to develop and manage the strategy and production of all graphic assets for athletic digital use on all platforms and within key athletic venues. This role coordinates various photography needs with individual departments and is also responsible for building and maintaining a graphic design intern program.

 

Duties & Essential Job Functions:

1. Designs and produces materials to increase TCU Athletics’ profile by developing concepts/designs; posters, logos, and a variety of other marketing print and collateral materials; applying designs to web, social media and other electronic media.
2. Maintains TCU brand and logo direction by communicating best practices and supplying graphics that support the visual standards.
3. Collaborates with the marketing, communications and creative content staff, providing clear communication, and following up to ensure quality and direction are within brand standards strategy.
4. Monitors the graphic design work of other departments to ensure it adheres to basic rules of design.
5. Assists in the development and management of student interns; provides instruction and direction to students to further promote the athletic departments brand.
6. Designs, develops and delivers graphics, visual text and imagery for social media and marketing content.
7. Manages a graphic design internship program by recruiting new talent, interviewing and completing the hiring process for interns, training interns on TCU specific branding concepts, supervising the work of interns, and creating a collaborative atmosphere.
8. Plans, shoots and edits photographic content for print, social media and other digital platforms. Photographs gamedays, events and unofficial / official visits for assigned sports. Also captures special events assigned by the Director of Creative Content and provides technical assistance to student photographers.
9. Serves as the full-time photographer for assigned sports, including recruiting photo needs.
10. Performs other related duties as assigned.

 

Required Education & Experience:

• Bachelor’s Degree
• Three plus years of experience that directly relates to this position.

 

Preferred Education & Experience:

• Experience in a college athletics department

 

Required Licensure/Certification/Specialized Training:

• Valid Texas Driver’s License.
• Must be insurable under the University motor vehicle requirements.
• Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator, Microsoft Office Suite and video meeting software such as Zoom or Microsoft Teams

 

Preferred Licensure, Certification, and/or Specialized Training:

• Adobe After Effects, HTML, CSS, and other web-based programming languages, tools and technologies

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Knowledge of design management and workflow.
• Knowledge of photography and illustration.
• Knowledge of design principles/techniques, color theory, and printing procedures.
• Knowledge of web technologies and online dissemination of news and information.
• Knowledge to troubleshoot and recommend improvements in operations.
• Knowledge of customer relations techniques.
• Skill in integrating electronic communications and marketing.
• Skill in Adobe CS software.
• Skill in written and oral communications.
• Ability to provide creative direction.
• Ability to organize, prioritize and manage multiple projects.
• Ability to train and lead team members.
• Ability to adapt and learn new skills as technology advances.
• Ability to work independently as well as on a team.
• Ability to manage internal or outside vendors including printers, photographers and other professionals involved in related projects.

Physical Requirements (With or Without Accommodations):

• Visual acuity to read information from computer screens, forms and other printed materials and information.
• Able to speak (enunciate) clearly in conversation and general communication.
• Hearing ability for verbal communication/conversation/responses via telephone, telephone systems, and face-to-face interactions.
• This is an in-person, on campus position.
• Manual dexterity for typing, writing, standing and reaching, flexibility, body movement for bending, crouching, walking, kneeling and prolonged sitting.
• Lifting and moving objects and equipment up to 10 lbs.

 

Work Environment:

• The physical environment requires the employee to work both inside and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions.
• This role is an on campus, in-person position.
• Requires attendance at home and away games, events, contests and special events.
• There are no harmful environmental conditions present for this job.
• The noise level in this work environment is usually moderate to extreme.
