This full-time faculty position is on-campus and in-person.

The Harris College of Nursing & Health Sciences at Texas Christian University (TCU) is seeking applications for Chair of the Department of Applied Health Sciences. Reporting to the Dean of Harris College, the Chair will have a full-time, nine-month faculty appointment with rank at Associate or Full Professor depending on education, experience and related qualifications. The Chair of Applied Health Sciences is responsible for leadership in advancing the department’s mission and goals within the University and College, as well as for faculty and staff development and resource enhancement. The Chair is also the senior administrator of the academic unit and serves as the liaison between the Department and the Dean. The Chair is responsible for leading strategic planning, program development, budget allocations and management of resources, student services, curricula, recommendation for faculty/staff appointments as well as promotion and tenure. Additionally, the Chair will teach and conduct research in their area of interest.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
• Applicants should hold an earned research doctorate (e.g., PhD) in an area relevant to health sciences education or practice (i.e., public health, nursing, kinesiology, social work, communication sciences & disorders, etc.)
• Professional qualifications appropriate for appointment with tenure and rank at Associate or full Professor.
• An established program of research with a history or strong potential for external grant funding.

Preferred:
• Leadership and administrative experience, including budget preparation, personnel management and program advocacy.
• Individuals with experience in development of new academic programs and experience with accreditation processes (i.e., CEPH, ASHA, CAHME, CCNE, CSWE, etc.).

Department Details:

The Department of Applied Health Sciences is the newest academic unit of Harris College and offers the B.S. in Allied Health Sciences with emphasis tracks in related health professions and pre-professional concentrations to prepare students for competitive application to graduate health professions schools. As one of the fastest growing majors at the university, the potential for innovative curricular development is available for candidates with a unique vision. The individual selected for this position will have the opportunity to lead ongoing discussions of future public health programs within the department.

The Harris College of Nursing & Health Sciences consists of programs that prepare future health care and human services professionals. The academic units within Harris College – Applied Health Sciences, Communication Sciences & Disorders, Occupational Therapy, Kinesiology, Nurse Anesthesia, Nursing, and Social Work – are home to 1,900 students who are supported by committed and talented faculty and staff. Harris College offers 20 degree pathways in our health-related disciplines. On campus, the Miller Speech & Hearing Clinic provides services for more than 300 families each year and serves as a professional practice site for students majoring in speech pathology and habilitation of the deaf. The faculty and students at Harris College actively engage in research for the purpose of improving health and well-being.
