The Coordinator Campus Recreation & Wellness Promotion – Fitness is responsible for supporting Campus Recreation & Wellness promotion by directing the daily operations of departmental fitness programming.
1. Assists in the management of all departmental fitness programming by overseeing the scheduling of all group exercise, personal training, and Fitness educational programs scheduled within the facility; supervising the massage therapy and Stretch & Recover programs; and coordinating fitness related special events.
2. Establishes and maintains the equipment maintenance and cleaning procedures for the multi-purpose rooms for the group exercise programs.; develops and oversees usage policies that promote safety, care of facility, and equal access.
3. Manages a Graduate Assistant for Fitness by conducting weekly meetings related to discussing budgets, upcoming needs, and schedules on a regular basis.
4. Supervises Fitness Staff in all programming areas by training student assistants in scheduling, discipline, assessment and budgets; evaluating all employees; and preparing payroll. Ensures consistent training and implementation of procedures for all student employees who enforce all fitness related risk management practices.
5. Provides special opportunities for staff development for through staff meetings, retreats, and other fitness skill development activities.
6. Assesses fitness program outcomes and customer satisfaction through multiple methods including soliciting customer feedback.
7. As needed, provides information to assist with promotional materials and social media to promote and publicize fitness programs.
8. Represents Campus Recreation by serving on departmental and division committees for student development.
9. Serves as a campus resource for other programs to enhance the use and visibility of the Rec Center as a major campus resource.
10. Performs other related duties as assigned.
• Bachelors’ degree in Recreation, Kinesiology, Sport Management or a closely related field or equivalent in experience.
• 1 years’ experience in university recreation including fitness programming and group exercise scheduling (completion of a graduate assistantship may be included as applicable experience).
• Masters’ degree in Recreation, Kinesiology, Sport Management or a closely related field or equivalent in experience.
• Primary Group Fitness OR Personal Training Certification (ACE, ACSM, AFAA, NASM, or NSCA)
• Valid Texas Driver’s License.
• Must be insurable under the university motor vehicle requirements.

• Knowledge of communications, presentations and interpersonal relationship techniques.
• Knowledge of personal training, group exercise, and fitness programming.
• Knowledge of recreation and student development theory
• Knowledge of scheduling techniques.
• Knowledge of customer service techniques.
