The Coordinator of Degree Certification is responsible for managing undergraduate and graduate student degree certification processes in Harris College of Nursing & Health Sciences, and serves as the primary support for undergraduate and graduate academic programs and processes in the college.
1. Undergraduate Degree Progress Support: Prepares and monitors students’ intent to graduate no later than two semesters prior to graduation; provides degree certification of seniors by reviewing all undergraduate senior academic advising reports, manages the process of ensuring the posting of senior grades at the end of each term, ensuring that graduation requirements have been met; approves students for graduation in collaboration with the Registrar’s office; notifies students they have been approved for graduation or that they do not meet graduation requirements.
2. Athletic Certification: Certifies progress of all Harris College student athletes for NCAA compliance each semester in coordination with the Athletic Department; ensures deadlines are met.
3. Graduate Degree Progress Support: Assists academic units with graduate student application and admission process. Provides processing instruction for submission of graduate financial aid forms and student stipends. Sends notices to graduate students of deadlines for filing intent to graduate forms and certifies graduate students for graduation in collaboration with the Registrar’s Office; notifies students they have been approved for graduation or that they do not meet graduation requirements.
4. Associate Deans Support: Provides administrative support to Associate Dean for Nursing & Nurse Anesthesia and Associate Dean for Health Sciences related to students’ academic standing; researches, advises and provides supporting documentation to inform decisions.
5. Academic Advising support: Serves as a resource for college academic advisors and faculty advisors on student advisement of degree plan requirements for undergraduate and graduate programs. Run queries on appropriate student registration; academic warning, probations, suspensions; processes non-traditional course contracts as approved by Associate Deans; reviews current processes and consults with the Registrar’s office, Dean, Associate Deans and Academic Advisors; makes recommendations for improvement and oversees the implementation of approved changes; receives, processes, and maintains documents and databases; troubleshoots potential problems and makes appropriate referrals; meets with faculty as necessary; ensures that Harris College record keeping processes align with those of the Registrar’s office.
6. Liaison with University Offices: Works with multiple offices to stay updated and informed to ensure Harris College meets current standards for multiple processes; offices include, but are not limited to, Registrar, Human Resources, Graduate Studies, Financial Aid, Athletics.
