Job Summary:

The Director of the Neeley Academic Advising Center is responsible for providing strategic direction for academic advising initiatives to support student success. The Director is responsible for managing the daily operations of the Center including oversight of the academic advising staff, development and coordination of processes and procedures to support advising initiatives as well as budget oversight.

 

Duties & Essential Job Functions:

1. Coordinates and supervises the advising process of the Neeley School by developing advising strategies for pre-business students and business majors. Manages the internal change of major process and facilitates the external change of major process.
2. Directs and coordinates all daily operations of the Center by designing, implementing, and updating administrative policies and procedures for academic advising while staying informed on University policies and procedures as they relate to academic advising and BBA degree requirements.
3. Enhances the Neeley undergraduate student experience by creating and monitoring programs focused on academic progress, retention, and success. Responsible for quality and continuous improvement of advising initiatives.
4. Engages with parents of current and prospective students. Plans and implements new student orientation sessions for incoming Neeley students. Represents Neeley at Monday @ TCU and other prospective student events.
5. Administers undergraduate records by receiving, processing and maintaining required documents, creating and maintaining databases, providing reports, and analyzing data.
6. Contributes to overall team effort by collaborating with Undergraduate Program Directors within Neeley Student Success Services and establishing positive working relationships with department chairs, and the Neeley School of Business as a whole.
7. Partners with the Assistant Dean for Undergraduate Programs on appropriate synergistic initiatives to ensure alignment of student’s academic goals with professional development and career objectives.
8. Represents the Neeley School to internal and external stakeholders by interpreting and communicating academic policies, procedures and curriculum issues; developing and delivering academic presentations; collaborating with TCU Admissions, Registrar, Center for Academic Services and other academic departments.
9. Serves as a liaison between the Neeley Academic Advisors and other academic advising units on campus.
10. Creates and administers the Neeley Academic Advising budget according to University policies.
11. Performs other related duties as assigned.

 

Required Education & Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree
• 5 years of experience in higher education programs focusing on academic advising, student development, including staff supervision.
• Experience supervising and leading a diverse team.
• Experience in program planning and implementation.

 

Preferred Education & Experience:

• Master’s degree in related field or equivalent in experience.
• Experience with PeopleSoft.

Physical Requirements (With or Without Accommodations):

• Visual acuity to read information from computer screens, forms and other printed materials and information.
• Able to speak (enunciate) clearly in conversation and general communication.
• Hearing ability for verbal communication/conversation/responses via telephone, telephone systems, and face-to-face interactions.
• Manual dexterity for typing, writing, standing and reaching, flexibility, body movement for bending, crouching, walking, kneeling and prolonged sitting.
• Lifting and moving objects and equipment up to 10 lbs.

 

Work Environment:

• Work is indoors and sedentary and is subject to schedule changes and/or variable work hours.
• This role is an on campus, in-person position.
• There are no harmful environmental conditions present for this job.
• The noise level in this work environment is usually moderate.
