Job Summary:

The IT AV Project Coordinator is responsible for providing AV project oversight and planning for University AV projects from award through installation and completion. The Coordinator will participate in developing AV standards, future AV roadmaps, and overall AV process documentation.

 

Duties & Essential Job Functions:

Project Planning & Management
1. Designs, specifies, and manages the installation of integrated systems.
2. Oversees/develops the campus AV control programming standards and maintain that data for reference and support purposes.
3. Develops and reviews project Scope of Work (SOW) to ensure quality and completeness for all AV projects.
4. Maintains quality control over vendor (and internal resource) execution, to ensure client satisfaction while meeting our division standards, policies, and procedures.
5. Reviews engineering and architectural (RCP/Floor Plan) drawings, calculations, and acoustical modeling as needed.
6. Works with TCU Facilities to provide technical oversight for audio-visual systems specified by independent consultants.
7. Identifies special project requirements, including, but not limited to, electrical outlets, data drops, and backing support.
8. Addresses technical or logistical impediments to delivering scope of work.
9. Tests audio DSP or video processing systems software required for system functionality.
10. Meets with current/prospective vendors to help evaluate products.
11. Delivers weekly project updates for Assistant Director of Instructional Support.
12. Responsible for assisting the Assistant Director of Instructional Support in monitoring project budgets and, if necessary, develops, reviews, and processes required change orders
13. Tests integrated systems and performs troubleshooting when needed
14. Provides control and DSP system programming support to the project installation team when needed
15. Communicates and engages with internal employees, clients, and colleagues in a professional and timely manner

Executive Support
16. Provides in-person technical support, including but not limited to, microphone setup, video conferencing, video presentations, and other related duties for high level executive staff meetings on and off campus.
17. Performs other related duties as assigned in relation to AV support, maintenance, project management, and user training.

 

Required Education & Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in work and/or applicable military experience.
• 3 years of AV experience
• Minimum one year of project management experience (experience can be concurrent)
• Experience with Crestron Control hardware and software
• Experience with BiAmp/ QSys audio hardware and software

 

Preferred Education & Experience:

• Experience with Enterprise VC solutions (Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, Bluejeans, Cisco Telepresence etc.) both hardware and software

 

Required Licensure/Certification/Specialized Training:

• Valid Texas Driver’s License.
• Must be insurable under the university motor vehicle requirements.

 

Preferred Licensure, Certification, and/or Specialized Training:

• Avixa CTS (Certified Technical Specialist), Avixa CTS-I (Certified Technology Specialist Installation), or other technology/communication-related courses.

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Knowledge of basic electricity, electronics, and a variety of instructional technology systems; reading and interpreting schematics and service manuals; use a variety of power and hand tools, cleaners, and test equipment related to maintenance and repair of audiovisual equipment.
• Knowledge of hardware and software applications.
• Knowledge of strong interpersonal, teamwork, and communication skills.
• Knowledge of various IT functions.
• Knowledge of Safety & OSHA certification awareness.
• Ability to read and interpret AV system drawings, schematics, and construction plans
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manual
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and to meet identified deadlines.
• Ability to work with a high degree of accuracy.
• Ability to troubleshoot issues and formulate and implement changes.
• Ability to work successfully as a member of a team serving a common goal.
• Ability to instruct end-users on system capabilities. Ability to communicate technical instructions to end-users.
• Ability to lead others. Ability to coordinate, plan and lead projects.
• Ability to interpret business needs and identify technology solutions.
• Ability to coordinate and manage the implantation of IT solutions.
• Skill working with test and calibration equipment
• Ability to support user acceptance testing
• Knowledge of basic IP networking
• Ability to diagnose complex system problems
• Advanced computer skills as required for the design, configuration, and operation of AV equipment
• Ability to work and think independently
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, to have productive interaction with employees, clients, and colleagues

Physical Requirements (With or Without Accommodations):

• Visual acuity to read information from computer screens, forms, and other printed materials and information.
• Able to speak (enunciate) clearly in conversation and general communication.
• Hearing ability for verbal communication/conversation/responses via telephone, telephone systems, and face-to-face interactions.
• Manual dexterity for typing, writing, standing and reaching, flexibility, body movement for bending, crouching, walking, kneeling, and prolonged sitting.
• Lifting and moving objects and equipment up to 20 lbs.

 

Work Environment:

• Work is indoors and sedentary and is subject to schedule changes and/or variable work hours.
• This role is an on campus, in-person position.
• There are no harmful environmental conditions present for this job.
• The noise level in this work environment is usually moderate.
