Job Summary:

The IT Purchasing Specialist is responsible for purchasing new computer and other information technology equipment by coordinating requests, researching and completing orders.

Duties & Essential Job Functions:

1. Responsible for the procurement of Information Technology Hardware, Software, Software as Service, IT maintenance and licensing, and IT Professional Services. Including research of new technology purchases and evaluating the performance of those technologies to provide support for management purchasing decisions.
2. Works within the IT Service Management tool and University Procurement System to complete purchase orders by selecting vendor, negotiating price, payment terms; arranging for product delivery, resolving delivery problems.
3. Reviews and processes IT purchases requests and payments within the IT Service Management Tool and University Procurement System by verifying requested purchases, bills from vendors, purchase orders, and items received; resolving discrepancies.
4. Maintains historical reference of equipment by keeping records of items and services purchased prices, delivery and product or service acceptability.
5. Maintains quality service by following organization standards.
6. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Education & Experience:

• High School or GED equivalency.
• 4 years of relevant experience, including troubleshooting hardware and software issues.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Knowledge of current technology.
• Knowledge to troubleshoot and test computer hardware.
• Knowledge to build and assemble parts.
• Knowledge to integrate peripheral equipment into hardware solutions.
• Knowledge of customer service techniques.
• Ability to consult with users about hardware solutions.

• Visual acuity to read information from computer screens, forms and other printed materials and information.
• Able to speak (enunciate) clearly in conversation and general communication.
• Hearing ability for verbal communication/conversation/responses via telephone, telephone systems, and face-to-face interactions.
• Manual dexterity for typing, writing, standing and reaching, flexibility, body movement for bending, crouching, walking, kneeling and prolonged sitting.
• Lifting and moving objects and equipment up to 10 lbs.

Work Environment:

• Work is indoors and sedentary and is subject to schedule changes and/or variable work hours.
• There are no harmful environmental conditions present for this job.
• The noise level in this work environment is usually moderate.
• This is an in-person, on-campus role.
