Postdoctoral Research Associate

Job Summary:

The Postdoctoral Research Associate is responsible to carry out work on spectral and time-resolved phosphorescence characterization of chemical and biochemical materials and participate in the activities of Biophysics Track. This position is for a limited time only (8-12 months).

Duties & Essential Job Functions:

1. Prepares and stores bio-molecular and protein samples.
2. Conducts spectroscopic measurements (absorption, scattering, fluorescence, phosphorescence, etc.).
3. Provides general Lab Management and direct graduate students.
4. Reports biweekly results in the form of experimental results.
5. Analyzes data and completes manuscripts for publication.
6. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Education & Experience:

• Ph.D. in biochemistry, biophysics, physical chemistry or related fields.
• Experience in the fields of fluorescence, time-resolved fluorescence spectroscopy, Forster Resonance Energy Transfer (FRET), phosphorescence, probe chemistry, protein chemistry, polymer materials, and nanotechnology.
• Experience with biologically relevant particle samples.

Preferred Education & Experience:

• Experience in working with academic and industrial collaborators
• Experience in optical spectroscopy and FRET.
• Biomaterial Characterization Techniques (DLS, Zeta Potential, Raman, FTIR, AFM, TEM, SEM)

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Knowledge of Biochemistry and Protein Chemistry
• Knowledge of Optical Spectroscopy
• Knowledge how to work with UV radiation
• Skill in UV-vis, fluorescence, time-resolve fluorescence, and other spectroscopic methods
• Ability to work in a dynamic environment and support co-workers and grad students working on related projects

• Work is indoors and sedentary and is subject to schedule changes and/or variable work hours.

• This role is an on campus, in-person position.
