Job Summary:

The Postdoctoral Research Associate position serves to enable an individual with a Ph.D. to continue training as a researcher and gain skills and experience that will prepare them for their research career in academia or elsewhere. The Postdoctoral Research Associate will receive mentorship, research support, and a travel stipend to advance the Associate’s research agenda. The position is for one year with a possibility for a second year depending on satisfactory performance and available funding.

 

Duties & Essential Job Functions:

1. Assists IBR scientists in qualitative research.
2. Collects, compiles and analyzes data.
3. Designs surveys and interview guides.
4. Participates in research planning and grant writing.
5. Writes papers regarding research practices and findings related to the role.
6. Presents results at seminars and professional meetings.
7. Supervises temporary staff and students (graduate and undergraduate).
8. Performs other related duties as assigned.

 

Required Education & Experience:

• Earned Doctoral degree in Experimental Psychology by May 2025
• Experience in writing grants and working collaboratively with faculty and students.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Skill in scientific writing as demonstrated through peer-reviewed publication.
• Ability to acquire, organize, and analyze accurate data.
• Ability to work well as a team, using interpersonal, mentoring and communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, students, etc.

Physical Requirements (With or Without Accommodations):

• Visual acuity to read information from computer screens, forms and other printed materials and information.
• Able to speak (enunciate) clearly in conversation and general communication.
• Hearing ability for verbal communication/conversation/responses via telephone, telephone systems, and face-to-face interactions.
• Manual dexterity for typing, writing, standing and reaching, flexibility, body movement for bending, crouching, walking, kneeling and prolonged sitting.
• Lifting and moving objects and equipment up to 10 lbs.

 

Work Environment:

• Work is indoors and sedentary and is subject to schedule changes and/or variable work hours.
• This role is an on campus, in-person position.
• There are no harmful environmental conditions present for this job.
• The noise level in this work environment is usually moderate.
