Job Summary:

The Senior Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach is responsible for teaching strength and conditioning skills, strategies and techniques to student athletes by evaluating individual athletes and placing them in programs designed to address identified strength and conditioning needs.

Duties & Essential Job Functions:

1. Serves as strength and conditioning coach for women's athletic programs by designing and implementing strength and conditioning programs to help achieve success in a competitive sports program.
2. Evaluates athlete's strengths and weakness by interviewing athletes and coaches, analyzing athletes to determine approach required to achieve maximum results for the sport involved, teaching athletes new strategies and techniques, assisting with the preparation and implementation of weekly practice and conditioning sessions.
3. Assesses the training needs of student-athletes through by administering physical testing protocols and procedures.
4. Assists with daily operations and management by preparing and maintaining proper documentation related to the strength and conditioning of student-athletes.
5. Promotes the philosophy and objectives of the intercollegiate athletics program, to include adhering to all departmental policies and procedures, as well as the rules and regulations of the University, the Conference and the NCAA.
6. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Education & Experience:

• Bachelor's Degree.
• 4 years in intercollegiate strength and conditioning program; including experience with student – athletes/programs.

Preferred Education & Experience:

• None

Required Licensure/Certification/Specialized Training:

• Valid Texas Driver's License.
• Must be insurable under the university motor vehicle requirements.
• Must have CSCS (Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist) or CSCCA (Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Specialist) certification.

Preferred Licensure, Certification, and/or Specialized Training:

• None

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Knowledge of teaching methods.
• Knowledge of variety of sports.
• Knowledge of basic counseling techniques.
• Knowledge of NCAA guidelines.
• Skill in effective written and verbal communication.
• Ability to manage multiple projects.
• Abiltiy to work independently as well as on a team.

Physical Requirements (With or Without Accommodations):

• Visual acuity to read information from computer screens, forms and other printed materials and information.
• Able to speak (enunciate) clearly in conversation and general communication.
• Hearing ability for verbal communication/conversation/responses via telephone, telephone systems, and face-to-face interactions.
• Manual dexterity for typing, writing, standing and reaching, flexibility, body movement for bending, crouching, walking, kneeling and prolonged sitting.
• Lifting and moving objects and equipment up to 10 lbs.

Work Environment:

• The physical environment requires the employee to work both inside and outside in heat/cold; wet/humid and dry/arid conditions.
• This role is an on campus, in-person position.
• There are no harmful environmental conditions present for this job.
• The noise level in this work environment is usually moderate.
