The University Photojournalist supports the Marketing & Communication Division’s communications and editorial efforts by telling visual stories using still photos and video for a variety of uses including social media, news coverage, websites, internal communications, and printed publications. This position works as a key member of the Communications team to support the university’s strategic plan.
1. Amplifies the university's brand story visually across various platforms by capturing creative, high-quality candid and posed photos and video.
2. Collaborates with admissions and marketing teams to create visual content that supports recruitment, yield, and enrollment strategies.
3. Documents campus life and campus events through photo and video.
4. Edits and manages photos and video using current software programs.
5. Uses social media outlets to visually tell the university’s stories with direction from the Assistant Director of Social and Multimedia Strategy.
6. Works with the Assistant Director of Social and Multimedia Strategy to produce and edit video series that support TCU’s goals.
7. Works as part of an integrated team, coordinating with multiple internal groups.
8. Assists Digital Asset Coordinator in managing a library of current and archived photos and video to ensure assets can be found and accessed easily.
9. Manages photo/video requests from high-profile campus entities.
10. Stays abreast of related industry technology, techniques, trends and best practices.
11. Performs other duties as assigned.
• Bachelor's degree in photography, videography, film, communication, journalism or related field.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience working as a photographer/videographer, including a comprehensive portfolio that demonstrates both technical and storytelling skills through photography and videography.

• Part 107 Remote Pilot Certification for the FAA for drone photos and video.
• Knowledge of and technical mastery of DSLR and mirrorless camera systems.
• Knowledge of and proficiency in Final Cut Pro and the Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Photoshop, Lightroom, Premiere and After Effects, as well as other professional photo and video editing software.
• Knowledge of digital video formats for upload to various digital channels, as well as with gathering and interpreting video analytics.
• Ability to configure and operate camera equipment, lighting, sound and other production equipment.
• Ability to work an irregular schedule that may include evening and weekend assignments.
• Ability to travel.
• Ability to identify and incorporate industry best practices and trends.
• Ability to edit videos quickly and effectively to meet deadlines.
• Ability to juggle multiple projects simultaneously.
• Ability to budget time and resources to ensure work is completed in a timely manner
• Ability to produce high quality, accurate work with attention to detail while demonstrating a strong work ethic and positive attitude.
